Insurance
Insurance
I've had my eye on a few good deals for starting out, but the thing that' been holding me from purchasing the bike and riding it is the insurance. I tried getting a quote from a few places and they were charging an arm and a leg.
I have a few questions for all the owners out there. What's the best insurance out there, and how can I lower the insurance rates?
Thanks
and btw demographics: males <25 y.o.

to be completely honest, call STATEFARM...... i know most people will say "oh it cant be that much difference" but the difference is definitely huge. I called everybody including Primum, RidersPlus, etc. All their quotes ranged between $4-6K a year, I was ready to scrap the whole idea but I called statefarm and i pay $100 a month on my 2000 CBR600 F4 which lays down the same horsepower as the brand new 600's. Statefarm bases their rates on CC's......
also the fact that everyone is different, it depends on your driving record as well, any speeding tickets, accidents at fault or not, the cc of the bike, how long of experience you have riding and driving. best site i found was kanetix.ca fill out one application for free, and it sends you quotes from like 5 insurance companies, and also yea i agree with fastfive40, statefarm is one of the best
I agree with fastfive40. Statefarm usually has the best rates for insurance. To help it even more you should try to take some motorcycle learners course as that can help to cut insurance by almost 40% in some cases. Hope you get a good deal, and keep two wheels on the road.

I really wanna get a motorcycle don't have my license but I've been looking at the Kawasaki Ninja EX500R. The older models like around 2000. My quotes on Kanetix are all like 9k. My dad has his motorcycle license but doesn't have a motorcycle can I get the bike and be occasional? And would that then put my insurance at super low. I'd rather get a motorcycle then car. But everything seems to a motorcycle being more expensive with insurance. I'm pretty set on getting the bike I mentioned above does anyone have any suggestions.
-clean record
-multi line discounts for having your auto insurance with the same co.
-take motorcycle safety course
-depending on the value of the bike, you might want to forgo the collision insurance, which can drive up the prices. if you do want to have this coverage, up the deductibles a bit.
Always be honest with your insurance company. If you are caught being deceiptful, the consequences are very severe. Its not worth it.
When I was in my teens, early 20's i was paying about $1100/yr for a cbr 600.
Im 32 now and currently with statefarm with my 03 R1 (1300 / year - which would have been only 800 a year if I had my car with them as well).
