I've found a 99 Subaru Impreza

I was at a dealership today looking at cars with my dad and while he was looking at what he wants, I spotted this little red thing in the corner of the lot. It was a 99 Subaru Impreza 5 speed. There asking 8k for it (obviously a bit high considering its a dealership)..but heres the kicker. Its got 100,000k on it. I know its 10 years old, and probably going to cost a bit to get it the way I like it (looks like its going to need breaks, tires..probably a bit more..but I've fallen in love with it lmao.

What do you guys think, if I was to offer them something for it what should I? Is it a good idea to buy a 10 year old subaru, even if it only has 100k on it?

Is it a 2.2 or 2.5 ? The 2.2s can have head gasket issues, otherwise there good cars if you maintain it they'll run a real long time. For a comparison theres a 99 L in the autotrader for 8k probably the same one, which is a 2.2 and another 99 2.2 with 20km more for 2000 less. I personally wouldn't pay that much for it if you like them keep looking for a better deal.

It is the 2.2, I think I'm going to pass on it. As much as I like it I just cant conceive paying 8k for something thats 10 years old.

For the same price I can get a 04-05 Altima.

002zz has it wrong the 2.2L is not the one with Headgasket problems, the 2.5L is.

The 2.5L is the one you should look out for, and typically they go at around 150k. The EJ25D (DOHC) engines are ticking timebombs.

You can find one closer to $5-$6k.
