Alright, this is my last "such and such is wrong how do I fix it" thread for at least a week, I swear.

Alright, I got my car with This Spoiler already installed on it. The problem is that the two sided tape used to originally apply it is not holding anymore. I assume that the solution is to go get some more two sided tape, but I was wondering..

a.) Tape seems to be an iffy way to apply something to a car, is there a better way to do this?

b.) Is there something I can throw on as a temporary fix until I get whatever it is I should use to fix it?

You guys have been incredibly helpful for my last few threads, and haven't made fun of me at all for my complete lack of knowledge I'm hoping the trend will continue here.

pull it off completely, get some 3m molding tape (it's foam about a 1/2 wide) clean with alcohol on both the spoiler and the body apply and press pretty hard, that is what the factories use for body side moldings, the important thing is there can be no wax where the tape is going to be put

hey man.. i do this for a living now.. and deal with things like this alot.

def pull it completely off.. and use a scraper of some sort to remove as much of the tape as you can from the spoiler. then if you have one use a heat gun to heat up the old tape on the rear deck of the car. then you can just roll it off with your finger. try to get it all off. but keep that heat gun or hairdryer moving so as not to bubble the paint. once you get it down to that there will be residue left. you can buy this stuff called Pro-Sol. it is safe on your paint and basically if it wont get it off nothing will. just rub it in good and it should clean all the residue right up. once you get it all back to this point you are ready to start installing. clean both surfaces with alcohol and then apply the 3m double sided tape. use 3m not some off brand. then just dry fit it and press it down onto the car. the tape is pressure sensitive so make sure you push on it good and hard. that should be it man. the key to making it stay is just making sure everything is clean

as far as a quick fix, you can use weatherstripping adhesive but i wouldnt recommend it. if you do use it then it will be even harder to clean up later if you want to repair it right.

3M also makes a primer that you use with their tape. Its called Automotive Adhesion Promoter #06396. It comes in single-use towelettes. Any paint distributor that sells 3M will carry it. Be sure the part and the car is CLEAN! Alcohol is the best cleaner. CLEAN,CLEAN,CLEAN!
