Black Rims on a 96 White Camaro

Alright I don't know much about wheels and tires so bear with me. I think the first picture (found the car on ebay) looks sooooo sweet! He said the rims are painted black z06 rims. Does ANYONE know where to find them? Or if not that, something that looks like them.

And another thing, i don't even know if my car's brakes are disc or drum. I assume they are disc. And if they are disc, what does it take to paint the calipers red?... Or are those after market calipers? .... Would it look good to paint the stock calipers red ... ETC ETC!! :P

Oh and my final question is are those all 18" rims? ... What size rim would make the tires about 235-255? ... Is there a way to determine that? A calculator or website? .... I TOLD YOU IM RIM RETARTED!! Haha... Anyway, help me out guys ... Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Is there any really good wheel websites? Or a website with lots of black rims? ... THANKS!

Painting the calipers is very easy. You can get either caliper paint, or high temp paint for them. Personally, I'd go 17's over 18's, but the tire size all depends on the width of the rim, and not just the height. and the Z06 wheels are on ebay all the time, along with other black wheels, like the ZR1s.

The last picture is my wheels of course and they are 17" not 18". I just sanded and painted them myself.

Also, on the tire size, it all depends on how wide your rims will be. You don't want to run a 315 tire on a 9.5" wide rim, although it would work on an 11" rim. 275's seem to be the optimal choice on 9.5" wide rims.

While that's what I have now when I replace my tires I'm putting 245 up front and 275's in the back.

Cool! Ready for more questions? (i'll number them to be cool)

1. So basically it will be cheaper to do a ebay wheels and tire package than buy them seperate right?

2. About the disc in front and drum in back, is it normal to have the front painted red and have normal on the back? Like is that what you have "project camaro" (i think your name is chad)?

3. So black z06 wheels are going to be more money than black zr1 wheels, correct? Do you think they will look about as cool on a white camaro?... Opinions please!

4. and I still can't really decide between 17" and 18". Does 18" really make a performance decrease?

5. I found some 17x11 zr1 wheel and tire packages on ebay, those are huge and sweet but is it going to slow my car down? Or decrease gas mileage? Or is it just flat out unnecessary for a v6? Hehe...

6. Where do I find the brake caliper paint stuff?

7. Is buying the wheel and tire packages from ebay going to make me have 275's all around? Is that bad? ... or should i shoot for 245s in front?

LAST ONE!! 8. I see "gunmetal" zr1's everywhere on ebay, do you think they would look as good on my car? They seem to be cheaper. Pretty sure I want black, but ... Yeah

ALRIGHT GUYS!! ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET ... ANSWER MY QUESTIONS!! please!

number 4 yes a guy on my gp board lost almost a half second in teh quarter, it also slows the turns because you raise the center of gravity on the car.Number 1 maybe prices vary on ebay.number 2 it's not uncommon, but the drum can be painted with the same paint and it helps the look.Number 5 those shouldn't slow the car down, but you will hydroplane in rain (if the 11 inch wide even fits that I'm not sure)number 6 any auto parts store should have it.number 7 all depends on the auction, and no it's not bad.number 8 gunmetal looks like brake dust, black looks bad enough to me

To tose in my 2 cents I think red would look best for the piant color, any other color tends to look ricey to some. Besides red and white go together.

It is probably going to be cheaper to get the rims and tire packages off ebay..

But most of your questions were already answered..
