Car Lapping Days @ TMP

ADVANCED DRIVER TRAINING PROGRAM

Toronto Motorsports Park (TMP), Cayuga, is pleased to announce the continuance of its Advanced Driver Training (ADT) / Lapping Program. Participants will use their own technically fit car. The Chief Instructor is Gerry Low, a veteran of numerous Advanced Driving School Programs for over 25 years.

The ADT curriculum is simple, a full day of personalized in-car and group classroom instruction. The emphasis of the Program will be to improve your driving skills, enhance your confidence, and increase your experience whether you are a Novice, Intermediate or Experienced driver. The first date is April 26, 2008 and the number of participants in each group is limited.

Safety is paramount at Toronto Motorsports Park. The venue is safe, flat, and technical. Established Driving School Rules of Conduct (i.e. 2-party acknowledged passing) will be strictly observed. Vehicles with convertible tops must be equipped with either factory or aftermarket rollover protection. Technical Vehicle Inspection form to ensure vehicle fitness need to be completed by either a mechanic or the owner of the vehicle. As the event is controlled and non-competitive, helmet use is optional.

The road course can be configured as two small circuits of 1.2 km and 1.8 km or one large 3 km road course. We will use the 3 km circuit. The paved surface is a safe flat design with good run-off room (one barrier) and excellent sight lines. The course has ample straights, challenging large and small chicanes, tight 90 degree and sweeping high speed turns. A truly good technical course.

The 2008 Schedule is:

April 26th, Saturday
May 17th, Saturday
June 20th, Friday
July 25th, Friday
August 15th, Friday
September 12th, Friday
October 18th, Saturday
November 8th, Saturday

The cost of each DAYTIME ADT and Lapper participant is $250 and $200, respectively (plus GST) and includes lunch. Time is from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

EVENING programs will be available from May to August. Time is from 4:00pm to just before dusk. Cost for the evening ADT and Lapper participant is $125 and $100, respectively.

Reserve your place now by registering online above or by calling Me (Vanessa) at (416) 291-4561. Contact Gerry Low at gerry@mezocon.com or (416) 809-6803 (cell) for more details about the Programs.

re: car lapping days at TMP

Just to clarify, for these events you bring your own car? What kind of modifications are necessary safety-wise or is what's legal on the street ok there? Is it $250/event or $250 to come to all eight. Also how beginner-friendly is it; ie I've taken my car down the 1/4 mile at Cayuga a total of maybe, 10 times and have never been on a real course except in a go-cart. This sounds really interesting though maybe PM if possible thanks.

Yes, you bring your own car, and the ADT Lapping is very beginner friendly. There is a basic tech check list that I have and could email you if you like (PM me or email me vanessa@tmpracing.ca, if you want this sent out) Otherwise, just remember that if you have a rag top then you will need a roll bar to participate.

$250 is per session and includes instruction.

We also have some other open car lapping days available.
