Well, im crossing my fingers this event rocks :)

Last year, 2007, 1320drag.net covered it here
In 2006 we covered it here

Stang6589 01-30-2008 08:59 AM

I heard it sucks compared to Performance World.

nicholas316 01-30-2008 02:17 PM

would it be any better than importfest?, or would it be the same cars, etc.

Speedorama will have muscle cars, hot rods, street rods, mustangs, camaro's, etc. So it will be somewhat different then Importfest (not a lot of imports)
As with any car show in Ontario, you will see some of the same cars, but thats just how it is

VWJettaMK2 01-30-2008 08:19 PM

This will be my first time going to is so we shall see. Older cars are sick..I had a 21 year old VW and I spanked brand new cars like no tomorrow :D

BrowNKiD 01-30-2008 08:48 PM

honestly the local car scene is really dieing. So even if you dont like the show remember its for the greater good.

You know what, there are a ton of reasons for the scene dying. It sucks, because for most of us this is our hobby / passion.

In the past Speedorama used to swap media passes for banner exposure. What that means is we promote their event and still go down on our time and buck, shoot pictures and promote it here on GTcars. This is the biggest site in Ontario with the most reach to the people in they want at shows.

But as of 2 years ago, Speedorama has had no interest in doing this. They rather us just pay to get in. This has been the same issue with other shows and events. Not all promoters have been like this, but its becoming a bigger problem.
Anyhow, the last guy i spoke to was Gary Wallace (i believe that was his name) and he was just like NO DEAL.

I went to a drift event at TMP and it had maybe 12 authorized photographers there. I had to work all these dealings to get 2 guys in to shoot, and in the end 1 still had to pay.

End result, GTcars delivered good pictures to a lot of people. But its just not worth it anymore to ask these promoters.

Speedorama will be the same recycled cars for most of us. Guys like you Brownkid and many others here have been around forever and seen the same cars over and over. But that being said, those guys showing their cars are still working to keep the sport and shows alive, they deserve the props and we will be there to shoot the event.

Like everything in the scene, things have grown, people need more $ to keep things going etc. When we worked with Canadian Car Audio on their show last year i got a good taste at the costs of having a show. But, that being said, i also seen the value of promoting it full out. We had 120 cars, over 140 through the day and there was even another show in the east end that very same day.

Anyhow, people should goto Speedorama and check it out. But if you don't want to , don't worry, pictures will be up so you can see what you missed or didn't miss.

dont all Toronto shows have the same cars, same people, same croud. You go to one youve seen it all IMO.

Wow thats very suprising, I dont know why anyone would turn down free exposure, especially when GT CARS takes the best coverage including videos and pictures.

Thank you for coming and taking such great coverage of our event TUNers against STreet racing, and we hope to see you there this year.

sometimes you go to hear the stories people have about their cars. A lot of times there isnt enough time to check out all the cars or talk to all of the people. I find it very interesting to hear what everyone has to say about their car, there is alot of interesting people out there, even though it maybe the same cars and the same people.
