Overheating problems

I have an overheating problem with my Liberty 91 GX, the cars had the head gasket checked, new thermostat put in, brand new radiator, hoses seem fine, the only thing i can suggest is the water pump but my mechanic seems to think it is fine. Driving around the city the car is fine, but take it on a long trip over 100 kmph for a few hours and the temp gauge seems to rise, not fully to boiling point but a cm or two away from it, when i stop at lights it goes back to normal half way. It also lost most of its coolant aswell after the long journey but theres no leaks in the resevoir or anywhere.
