Fresh water flood supra
 

My sister and her boyfriend in palsm springs california just got there hands on a 1998 supra turbo that was in a fresh water flood, no interior or cosmetic damages to the car. it wont start, any ideas on what extent the damage might be to fix? im thinking of taking it off their hands for 7 grand. let me know if its worth the while and where i can take the car to fixed

Nah...its not worthwhile to get it.....Let me buy it and fix it up instead. :la:

There will be water in the spark plug galleys, that is probably the main thing stopping the engine from cranking over. Get a turkey baster and start sucking out the water.

Water in the spark plug galley? thats all? lol, they dont write off mk4's for a reason like that. and its probably irrepairable anyway :)

Pull the dipstick out and see how high the oil is. if its wayyyy past the full level means water is inside the block. depend on how long its been sitting its probably rotton in there.

and if the car has been running while it was flooded.... hydrolock.. which means bye bye engine!!! (water cannot be compressed, so if water is sucked in inside of air a small amount will raise compression a shitload, and near full cylinder will not allow the piston to come up...)
