Supra guys!

Hey everyone, right now i am in the market for a new car and right now i am between two cars, a Nissan 300zx TT (RHD) and a Toyota Supra MKIII With a 1JZ (RHD). Both cars have about 50,000k on them just got imported from Japan.

Im most interested in the MKIII but the owner from japan tinted the windows and then tried to peel it off so all of the tint is peeled half way off and looks a mess.

The interior is very clean though. The asking price is 4,000, How hard would the glass be to replace on a car that old and do you think it is worth the price? BTW: It's white and has JDM a/m rims and a full APex'i exhaust

All information on the car is helpfull. The 300zx is TT black has JDM a/m rims and thats all. Which car do you think i should get.

THANKS!!

Buy the mark 3. The 1jz is a very strong platform stock ( i think the record right now for a stock 1jz is around 717 whp) and it's a hell of a lot easier to work on then the forsaken 300zx's.
And i do not know what do you mean by replacing the glass?
Is a window cracked or something?
Also, common problems on the 1jz's are as follows:
Turbo seals blowing,
Coil packs cracking (you can solve this simply)
Eating ECU's (another easy fix).
A lot of people know that the 1jz was not made here, but it's parts are readily available, as most of them can be used from the 2jz's :D
I'm sure im leaving something out, but in the end, the mark 3 will be faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain then the 300zx.
My brother recently swapped his mark 3 to the 1jz, but i have stayed loyal to my 7m and its heritage :)

Do you own a mkIII, if so would you be willing to meet up at some point and come look at the car with me? Yea, my friend has a 1jz. The thing about this mkIII is that the 1jz came with it stock, its from japan and its RHD. Let me know if your interested in coming to view it with me.

No, no cracks in window's just the left over tint, i dont know if it will come off or what.

Thanks man.

I would go with the Supra though. There's a huge following for MK3's and MK4's so there are lots more aftermarket parts available when compared to the 300zx. Also, since the glass isn't cracked, I'm almost 100% sure you don't have to change the glass. I bet you could use sticker remover solution or even buff the glass to get the mess off.

Yea, thanks man i just found a way to remove it but im sure if i trust myself with a blade against glass lol. Thanks for the info!

I love Supra's, don't get me wrong, but the difference between a MKIII Supra and a 300ZX TT is about a lot more than the engine. The 300ZX looks a lot better- the design is timeless, and it can be made to look absolutely gorgeous for not a lot of money, whereas the MKIII will always look '80s-ish. If you're into a more retro look, get the Supra.

The 1JZ is a reliable motor with solid performance, but it's not cheap to make fast. Then again, neither is the 300ZX. However, with the future of JDM cars being in question (ending in 2008 maybe?) I would try to seek a LHD counterpart or, at the very least, a car that would be easy to make USDM compliant (lights, glass, markers, etc.).

Just my two cents- really look at what you're buying. $4,000 for a 1JZ Supra is telling me that something's wrong with it.

PS- VG30DETT is a decent engine too :P

TTZ_JSpec 09-06-2007 10:54 AM

Yea, i thought something was wrong with it also so my mechanic took a look at it and he drove it for about an hour and nothing out of the ordinary happend. I am trying to get someone to go with me saturday or something to look at it again. The vg is a hard engine to work on but im still not sure what to get. Thanks for all the info!!
