15km over in a 60, Its late and I can't remember exactly what this ticket comprises of, regradless I'm going to fight it. Does anyone know what I'm looking at here? Any resident cops, or someone here with any suggestions? :confused:

Im not sure what your question is. Are you asking if you can still file a ticket to court after the 15 day period?

Yes you can, you would have to talk to the justice of the peace and they can file a court date for you, they will require a good reason tho. Even if you were convicted guilty of the ticket without filing for a court date, you can appeal the decision by talking to justice of peace and they can re-open the case for you. But at this point you better have a good reason, cause not everything will fly.

Get a good ticket lawyer and let them deal with it if you dont have any experience doing it.

To clear up the confusion StraightGoodz, I went 15km over in a 60 zone passing someone and caught trapped by radar trap...I think I'm just going to get a ticket lawyer and call it a day...

its no points i think, i had a 15 over, i couldnt win so i made a first appearance meeting with the prosecutor and he dropped mine to 10 over.

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago, I got it dropped to 10..

this is a breeze, you might even get away coz the cop might not show up but if they do heres a break down of whats going to happen

1. you walk into the courtroom and go to the prosecutor and sign in
2. when you sign is youre asked if youre gonna pleasd guilty or not guilty (and in most cases, you and your officer can work something out outside of the courtroom which involves no points and a reduced minimal fine)
3. prosecutor may talk to you while signing in and offer some kind of a "deal" usually involves lowered fine, no demerit points (my recommendation, TAKE IT)
4. you wait till your name is called and go along with everything that was talked about with prosecutor and the officer.

i think its posted somewhere on this site as well so if you notice on the mto site youre gonna see that 16 - 29km over the limit is a 3 point demerit so obviously anything less then 16 km over would comprise of a 2 point charge.

dont worry about this youre not gonna get demerit points taken off unless you dont attend the case or you decide to defend yourself in court. if you go with what i said in my previous post ill guarantee you youre not losing demerit points and it wont go on your record but you will be looking at a reduced fine G.L
