ANOTHER Insurance question

Just have a question about insurance. Right now me and my wife are both listed as drivers for our car. Is it possible to switch insurance companies and only have one of us as drivers? As in could I apply for insurance and not tell them about my wife being a driver, yet still have her drive the car?

If she got in an accident and was driving, would my insurance still cover her?

Just wondering since I just got a quote for just me and its half of what im paying.

The answer to you question is simple, and probably one that you dont want to hear. NO, it wouldnt be possible. Both drivers need to be listed on the policy-Im not sure if this is true, but I heard that if insurance were to find out about you hiding your wifes driving...they could fine you and eliminate your insurance policy...now you would be in a whole different kind of ball game and problems....ouch.

as for your other question, she wouldnt be covered because with car insurance, i believe the person on the policy is the one thats covered...she would most likely get a fine for driving with no insurance...and you would be deep in your pockets to cover damage from the accident....

hope that helps,
mike

Mike is correct... If you are found in misrepresentation (lied) on and auto app. The policy would be voided. You can however take your wife off the insurance but she is not allowed to drive the vehicle and again what mike said is correct if she is in an accident your insurance company will not cover the damages to your car and you will be paying for all out of poket!

The only way it would work is if she had her own policy say on her own car and she was over the age of 25.

So lets say, my gf wants to drive my truck. She has her own car and her own insurance policy. She is over the age of 25 (pretend). I give her permission to drive my truck, she gets into accident, it's covered. That's the only way. But if you are together its just plain cheaper to have her on there anyways, at least in my case. Changed my premium from young male wreckless driver to married man driver then we have a kid so mature married man driver haha I get wiked prices because my broker kicks ass. Went from $600/month with one speeding ticket on my ranger to $250/month with ranger, tempo, life insurance on both of us as well as baby and renters/home insurance as well. Crazy assed deal!

You can be the primary driver, and let her be the occasional driver for insurance purposes...
