Can someone help me not get raped for insurance?

i'm 19, have one accident (Blower motor died while i was driving, was making a left to get off the road (buddie's house was right after the left). The windshield was so fogged it looked like there were no incoming cars, i got hit while turning from oncoming trafic mid-turn, never saw it coming, cop put me at blame.)

My trial for the accident is November, so i'm not technically convicted, but an insurance broker said that insurance companys decide who's at fault, and even if i do get off for the ticket (turn not in saftey), i am still at fault, so i get raped.

I'm geting quoted about $550 a month for liability only insurance on a 91' 240SX that i'm picking up this thursday. As it stands now i'm paying 3 or 4 times the car's worth in a year. This is with a G2 licence (G test is next month).

Right now i'm considering saying i have a no-fault collision when insurance companies ask, and hope i get off on the ticket so i'm not technically lieing.

But is what the broker said true? i'm at fault no matter what? Also if they find out will they cancel my policy?

Can anyone who knows about this answer, and if not give me some companies to get quotes from?

Thanks in advance.

The demerit points arent applied to your license until usually a few months after you are convicted (or plead guilty and pay the fine). Im not sure if it's different for an at fault accident, which from what you described, you were definitely at fault.

If you can get an insurance policy before you are convicted, they wont be able to raise your rates until the policy expires. Maybe go with your idea of saying you were in an accident, but you have not been proven to be at fault (yet). If you talked to a broker that said the insurance company decides who is at fault, find another broker, or at least get that one to clarify what he meant, perhaps you misunderstood.
