cops and court, have a read
ive got buddies who are cops and we were talking last night. and a common area that people are confused i that cops often wont show up to court for whatever reason. truth is they get paid to go to court, even on their day off, they get paid 3 hours to go and sit in court. so unless something really serious comes up, the cop will always make his court appearance.

Not ture my firend. I had a cop not show up to my court date. Now the true reason why a lot of cops dont show up to court is beucase they get promoted. See most cops when they start off after there training start as ticket cops. After 6months-1year they are usutally promoted and no longer work the ticketing section. At that point they have little to no intrest in going to court to **** someone over a ticket. This happend to me. other reasons are, they are transfered to a diffrent department or they are no longer cops. The key is getting a date the day after a long weekend, ie Tuesday aug 5th or the day after new years.

uh, your wrong, ive got buddies who have been cops for many many years and still ride in the car and still go to court all the time. as i said, if they dont go to court they get in trouble

cops get time and a half + 3hrs travel time, get to sit in a climate controlled evniornment out of the elements + and some other lil benifits. Up to something like 30% of a cops income is from court time - why wouldnt they show up.

I think we should not be misled about reasons for often cases when the officer does not show up in the court. Cops are people and drivers as we are and majority of them understand life around. So their not showing up or even their "mistakes" in documents (that lead to dismissing the charge) - are often their mercy to some of drivers...

I went to Owen Sound to fight a $75 parking ticket. The CA dropped the charge partly because the cop didn't show. I figure the cop didn't expect anyone to be crazy enough to drive 3 hours to fight a parking ticket, but I did.

U cant pick the court date .. The court date is preselected and all the cases handled by that officer is on the same day. |
