Go back and ask for a "Meeting of Resolution". I might be throwing out this suggestion a lot in this forum but the truth is alone you have very little chance of defending this charge and winning.

Meeting of Resolution is effective if you want to plead guilty and get a lesser fine or negotiate down the points.

Those X-Copper types are more effective if you want to fight the charge as they tend to "bribe" the attending officer to stay away. Trouble is they cost $400 but it's well worth it IMO to save money on insurance and other associated headaches.

..

people are saying this: book the court date for a different say...ie..lets say my courtdate is next tuesday..that means the cop will be in court for all the tickets he gave out for the specific time period...if i book a different court date...it will conflict with this schdeal..ie..hell be on vacation or on patrol or even forget (lol hopefully)

Sure try that if you want. I stand by my recommendation.

These days the Crown tends to keep the cop's existing court appearance schedule in mind when scheduling or rescheduling appearance dates. May as well pay out the fine now. There is no defence to not having your seat belt on in a private motor vehicle other than a medical defence that your doctor has to sign off on.

If you decide to fight it your self, i say that a couple of weeks before the court date you call them and say that you cannot make it to the court for a valid reason, such as i have an midterm on that day. That way you can try to prevent the cop from comming.

there is an easy way out of this ticket..get a mechanic to write you a receipt and a note that he fixed your seatbelt which was broken and show that to the judge.

That doesn't get you out of the ticket. The note is not evidence, and is worthless unless it comes to court together with the person who wrote that note.

signed statements are accepted in courts as evidence all the time, especially ones from car mechanics such as estimates for damages

Nope, not that simple. A signed statement is not the same as a sworn statement or affadavit. Anyone can profer a "signed" statement and claim it is "truth", but without the writer being present to testify as to authenticity of that statement, it is worthless.
