Does insurance company seeks police report?

A couple of days ago, an elderly lady was backing out in a parking lot and hit my car. After we exchanged info, I asked if she wanted to pay for all damages herself and she said no. So I went to the police reporting center and file a report.
She called me yesterday and said she will pay for all damages to keep insurance company out of it.
A friend just told me that she thinks both insurance companies will get my report and both of us will get affected by this report.
Is it true that insurance companies will get all police reports before they renew policy? even if we don't file a claim with them?

If you aren't at fault, u don't have to worry about ur policy going up..

To answer your question.. I would say they have access ;)

The only time your insurance company finds out is when you call your company and state that you have been in accident. Insurance company's will ask if a police report has been filled out.. if yes they will merly just request to see the form.
