Help on getting my FIRST CAR?

I'm 23 years old with a G2 license... cannot take G until early 2007... and I'm interested in getting a car that isnt too expensive on insurance coverage and at the same time, not expensive in itself and not a gas guzzler.

And btw, I'm a NEW DRIVER and this is gonna be my first ever car.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of a 98 DODGE Neon... but are there any other suggestions? What brand names should I look for that have low insurance or consume low gas?

Any used car dealerships you may know in the Scarborough area that are reliable and trustworthy?

Pls help. Thanks.

I like to spend around $5000 on a car. I prefer domestic because they have lower insurance costs (I think)...

from experiences people have had around me with neons, id say dont take one even if its free:nono:, for 5000 you can get a nice 94-95 accord, not sure how insurance is on those but ask your insurance broker/company

or you can find a nice domestic..

btw ive seen 2000 neons for $3000 w/low mileage:retard:

if u want a good A-B car get a Civic , their cheap, reliable, and overall the best u can get with ur money.

get a EK (1996-2000) Civic

do not get a domestic..... you might be saving money on insurance..... but do youself a favour...... get an import it will save you alot of money on maintenance in the long run.... and when your neon wont start or breaks down.... you will be kickin yourself in the but for not gettin something japanese.... toyota, honda, acura, nissan whatever it is.... forget domestics GARBAGE

so you guys suggest that I get ANYTHING that isnt domestic?

Does that affect the price of their spare parts just in case they break down and I need to get them fixed? Will their spare parts be more expensive? or are all spare parts just the same?

Japanese made cars? Or is KIA all right? A friend told me that the only reliable KIAs are the ones made 2004 up. Before that, they all suck . Is he right?

And what japanese car is best as far as insurance is concerned? Ive talked to an insurance company and they told me that honda is one of the expensive insurance vehicles...

Pre 04 are alright but new ones are good they get better every year impo

Considering what car insurance costs, you might want to wait until you have your G and a few ticket-free years under your belt before thinking of owning a car.

I think the Taurus is the cheapest car in the world to insure, if you don't mind driving a POS with no guts or style. There's lots of good domestic muscle cars and full size cars which are cheap to insure but they tend to drink heavily. About the only domestic compact I'd consider is a Focus. Neons and J bodies are the disposable Bic lighters of the auto world.

Personally I like the Sentra. More guts than a Civic and not too flashy.
