How to get out of your speeding ticket

I was watching Marketplace a while ago (You know your getting old when...) and one of thier segments came to mind after reading through everyones problems with tickets.

Check it out for yourself. Makes sense, and it's always worth the effort to see if you can get out of paying a ticket.

link doesn;t work.. but ya know.. its probably a lot of BS to get out of a ticket you probably deserve anyway. just go to JP for deduction

TopDeadCenter 03-11-2005 01:09 PM

Damn link! It was working. That's exactly what the article was saying though. In many cases it's not just a deduction. They throw the whole thing out because they can't be bothered taking up the courts time.

17 years of age and with the tickets you're racking up? You should go back to walking for a while until you understand the social responsibilities that accompany driving.

And your dad should be beating you hard for driving like that. Maybe he will once the insurance hit caused by your driving habits comes back to hit hard on everyone other driver in your house.

Well, I do understand them. Don't assume stuff because i have bad luck ive sped probably 10 times in my driving career and ive got caught twice. I learnt my lesson after the first ticket. Ppl on the highway drive at teh avrg speed of 120 km/h the reason for me speeding was that i was behind a transport at night and it was swerving go i got into the fast lane passed him and went into the middle lane again and resumed driving at 120 the cop first radar'd me at 117 km/h thats what i usually drive but then i passed the truck and he radars me again at 144 km/h whcih is sensible because the transport was travelling at 120! so please save your speeches for a reckless driver not one with bad luck when it comes to fines. Secondly my second ticket i was going fast to get my physics lab which was due that upcoming period and the roads were dry and no cars were on the road! I am not at all a speed demon thank you! i just need some help and a another chance! Please someone help!

It has been suggested (in the above posts) that you contact the JP or Crown Attourney and ask for a break. They will be inclined to either reduce your sentence or excuse it all together.

No you didn't, otherwise you wouldn't have got the second ticket.

People drive at the average speed of 120? Ok, but by your words, the truck was already doing 120. So why didn't you just maintain position relative to and behind the truck? It was already going that magical 120 you think is the average speed. Why did you have to pass it doing 144? Do you consider that a safe speed for a relatively inexperienced driver?

Poor planning on your part does not constitute a valid excuse to speed. Leave earlier next time.

Your choices are what gets you your tickets.

I AGREE With YOURMAMA

So this alledged transport is "weaving" and you "increase your speed" to pass???? and the truck is already supposedly at 120km/hr (as you have a radar in your vehicle)

A SAFE thing to do would be to slow down to the proper MAXIMUM speed limit and let the transport continue, this way you are well clear of any danger. If it's really bad pull over use a cellphone and call police with direction of travel, transport particulars then proceed. Then offer a statement to the police so the driver can be charged. A prudent driver concerned with safety would have done that

PwNnz24 03-15-2005 01:55 AM

True, I now agree once I thought and remebered about driving defensively and not common sense. The thing that i was worried about was if that transport would have swerved and flipped I would have been involved because i wouldn't have broke in tikme to avoid hitting/causing a huge 15, 10 possible deaths. I thoguht it was not more safe for me, but more efficient instead of risking a car pile up, etc.

thanks for clearing that up guys! :appl:
