How much will my insurance go up??

Well I got my very first ticket last night for failing to stop at a stop sign.. 3 points gone.. (will fight for it though) cuz I DID 100% stop for like 2 secs not a complete stop but enough seconds to look both ways and sidewalk and then go. But unlucky the cop thought I needed a complete stop instead of a slightly moving and stopping go.

But I was wondering how much will my insurance go up for this incidient? I currently am under my dads insurance and I'm quoted at around $1000. Any help will be great.

Thanks

a rolling stop is NOT a complete stop, so the cop didn't think you needed to completely stop, you HAVE TO completely stop, it's the law.

either way, if you're younger than 25 and have only a g2 there's no set $$$ value that someone can quote you here or even a percentage. just expect his premiums to increase i would guess anywhere between 500-1000, but it really depends on the insurance company, his record, your record, etc. etc.

Bingo.

3 points is a nice dent. I know if its your first conviction your insurance may look the other way.

haha well after thinking about it. I don't think I really disobey the law at all. Here's some info.

1. I DID stop completely for about a good 2 secs and then started moving slowly up for another 2-3secs to check again for people and cars.
2. When I was half way into the intersection the cop "VAN" just arrived at the stop.
3. There was a house in between the intersection from where I stop and where he was coming from. So how the heck did he "assume" I did a rolling stop.

I'm hoping right now I can just fight off the points and just pay an extra $$ fine added to what he gave me. But i'm fighting this ticket no matter what.

Take it to court.

LeCinqLitre 10-03-2007 05:03 PM

fight it for sure...btw points mean nothing unless you've accumulated enough that your license is in jeopardy. Insurance companies simply look for convictions, not points.

That's not what you said in your first post. Please be consistent and very explicit with what you say otherwise you'll get burned even worse if your case goes to trial.
