I Need Help...Urgent!!!

This is the short version of my long story...I got pulled over in my gf's car, and I was given two tickets, failure to surrender insurance, and failure to surrender permit...I had the insurance card but it was out of date, and the permit I did not have on me because she had it in her purse. Considering this was not my car, my choice was to plead the 3rd option which is not guilty...I go to the scarborough court house, and they tell me to go upstairs, I wait and see the JoP, he gives me a piece of paper saying that I have to come back for a trial a year from the time of the ticket. I move to BC but before moving I call the courts and ask if someone else could represent me in this matter (i.e. the gf)...They say that it is not a problem, so I move to BC...A couple of months go by and I dont hear from the gf ever again, she has all my court documents, court date, etc...I try calling her to send all the documents to my parents house in Oakville so they can attend for me...No piece of mail was ever delivered and for all I know she withheld my mail and still is doing so...So obviously my license was suspended due to not paying the fines and/or not appearing in court. I move back to Ontario this past December, and try to get my license back but there is a problem, it is suspended and I cannot drive...So now I am at the point of request of re-opening of my trial and just wondering what do I do, what do I say to the JoP when I go into court...Anyone ever been in a situation like this before??? Some help would be greatly appreciated, I dont want to pay these fines as I am young and my insurance will sky rocket in price if I pay these fines...Anyone?
