Length of time to receive court notice.

I got a careless driving ticket cause im an idiot and I went to apply for a court date on Dec 30th. or something like that. I still haven't heard anything since how long does it usually take to receive the letter with more info?

Thanks in advance

it depends which jurisdiction you got the ticket and how backlogged they are, but it's still early for you if you filed for a court date at the end of december, i'm guessing you'll get it around may or later, there's usually about a 4+ month response rate

I got booked in October 2002 and they didn't send me a court day period. They just convicted me come August 2003. I went back, had the case re-opened and finally trial occured May 2004.

If that happens to you, make an application under Form 4F to the Ontario and Canadian AGO for Unreasonable Delay.

Thanks for the info guys. It's a Toronto ticket I guess they are probably very backlogged. Guess I can stop worrying til May.

Don't worry period. Until they send you a summons, forget about it. Just make sure you make all your motions for discovery NOW. Until they summons you it's there problem and they are on the clock not you. And if they convict you without a trial, have it re-openned.
