No Insurance!!!!
 

So here is my case...I want to know what can possibly happen.
so in may 07 i bought my first car went on vacation car was in the garage at friends got back in july applied for insurance and what not everything was good to go its been 2 weeks since I applied for the insurance they told me its gonna take about 3 weeks tog et all of it prosseced and what not so i thought I can go get a 10 day permit and drive it till I get my insurance so i was driving on the ten day permit and thats when the R.I.D.E pulls me over and gives me a ticket for no insurance 5 gs I went to the trail date in augest that the cop give u on the spot now i have a summon on friday...anyone have any idea what I should be expecting??? are they gonna suspend my liesence I have clean record no nothing no tickets. And yes I wasnt driving it perposly with no insurance I thought i was good if I have ten day permit plus my insurance was on tis way too. If i wanted to drive with no insurance I wouldnt have applied for one in the first place. Any tips for this Friday????

do you have an insurance policy at all....under an old vehicle.....father's car...something?

dude .. you had 7 months to prepare a defense and 2 days prior to your court date, you come on here for advice? you're in a FAIL situation already, but, i'll add my thoughts anyways.

if your insurance story is actually what happened, than feed that story to the JP and see what happens. you should have signed documentation of your policy application form with a signed date 2 weeks prior to the ticket date. you can try playing the stupid, ignorant, starving student card, who for some reason didn't know that he had to have an insurance slip when on the road and can't afford the financial repercussions of getting this ticket. you can also state that the insurance company failed to provide you with a temporary insurance slip after you applied.

btw, i'm not sure which insurance company you dealt with, but every single one i've been with (allstate and cooperators so far) issued temporary insurance slips RIGHT ON THE SPOT after you apply, and mail you the final slips 2-3 weeks later. your story seems odd to me, unless you were dealing with a shady company.

If you are a young student supported by your parents, how is it that your first car is an Audi TT?? I don't think money is your problem. Just send your folks the bill.

A ten day is only so you can have time to get a car safetied/etested after you buy it. It is not a substitute for insurance. You didn't have insurance when you were pulled over, so you're facked. Good luck. Try playing the poor student card.. i doubt it will be dropped, but it might get reduced.

dont you need proof of insurance to get a 10 day permit?

yea u need to show them a policy # or some sort in order to get the 10 permit still

Well, I have never been is such situations before I dont know what to do, I dont live here with my parents and that I sont own a Audi TT, it was an 92 dx. Are they gonna suspend my liesence ??? and it was belairdirect btw. They didnt send the tem slips to me from the day you apply it takes 3 weeks for you to get the tem slips, and why the hell did ministry let me have 10 day permit with out asking for my insurance, If I knew it was such a big deal ofcourse I wudnt have taken such steps. Any thing else I sud know ????? is my insurance gonna go up thats my first ever incidence??? your help is greatly aprecaited ..

and whats the lowest they wud reduce it too?? cause i can show them my visa bills that i have to pay my schools books that i need to pay for and my computer that i bought it on monthly payments I have to pay for...

thats pretty gay, everytime ive ever needed a pink slip its always arrived in the mail within a few days, not 3 weeks. even the process period doesnt take that long. you go into the office, you apply, pay them the first month or whatever their policy is, then they give you a pink slip. im pretty sure your gonna get screwed on this. as stated above, youve had a long time to prep and havent done so, first thing io would have done was gotten a letter from my ins comp with the policy stating when it was effective. secondly the mto shouldnt have given you a 10 day without proof of insurance, thats ignorant on their part and personally i feel that if your gonna go down in flames you should take down that mto employee aswell.

And one more thing as well I called them after I get my tem slips and all to see everything was good they cudnt find my name on the system or anything, so i thought maybe its gonna take some time and I never bothered either, its so ****ed up. So what im gonna do is go to there office early in the morning get them to give me the tem slip for my old car insurance that i can show as a proof. it was taking 3 weeks cause I applied for the first time i had no record so they had to go thru some sort of proesss or what ever. and again is my liesence gonna get suspended????

dude. you have nothing to worry about. if your insurance was set up on a date before you got pulled over, just bring your slips to court. it has the start date and the expiry date. thats all you need. don't 'sweat it.

yeah you screwed up on that one

well im back, I went to the court I got a new date now which is april 30, anyonw know a decent lawyer who doesnt chrage alot cause simply i dont have any money.
