Questions about the street racing law

Hi, my names Peter and Im a Student
I was driving home from school 2:30ish today and was driveing down the road were I live (it is a long straight road and I was late to pick up my dad) and I went in my driveway and stated to take stuff out of my truck and a unmarked cop comes in my driveway and starts yelling at me for aperantly doing 139 in a 80 zone. PC Hatham said that he passed me going the other way doing 139. He gave me a 110 in a 80 zone and a 220 ticket with 4 points. but I have a G2 and I had a small accident and I have 4 points already. Is there anything I can do.

If I do go to trial can they give me a fine that is greater than what is on the ticket?
thats for your time.

No.

If you do go to trial, they cannot give you a fine greater than what is written on the ticket. The way the Highway Traffic Act works is there are set fines and set victim surcharges for every offense. The courts will not make you pay a fine greater than the one written on the ticket, but your insurance on the other hand... that's a different story. Expect to have it drastically increased.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help

Just FYI, dub4life is incorrect, and max fine for a simple ticket is $500.00... They can impose a stricter fine if it goes to trial.

Hope this helps.

you're very lucky by getting it redused on the spot......i wasn't so lucky when he caught me doing 139 in the 80.....

get a paralegal still

dark_star 04-13-2009 03:27 PM

What paralegal would you suggest. I am in the niagara region and the court is in st. catherins

I have a guy that I'm using right now. He got my mom off careless driving 2 years ago so thats why I took him. So far he's doing just what he's suppose to do. Still waiting on cop's disclosure here.
He sweares to me that he deals with these 50 over charges every time time. Pretty common charge now a days.
If you're interested I can PM you his info and everything. As long as you meantion my name to him when you do talk to him.
