When you are filing them, make sure you always check the option that says you are going to challenge the officer's evidence, because that is the only way you can hope to get the ticket dropped completely. Basically, if the officer has no evidence at all (which are the notes that he takes when he goes into his car) or you go to trial and challenge his evidence and WIN, then you can drop the charge completely and that is what everyone should try to do! My lawyer and I have done that for 6 of my last 7 driving violation tickets. Not only did we drop the points, we dropped the whole ticket. However, my insurance did still go up because of my one conviction that had 0 points. Points are just a measure of how long you have to keep your license. A G2 license can have 9 points before it is suspended and a G license can have 15. Therefore, ALWAYS FIGHT THE TICKET, ALWAYS CHALLENGE THE EVIDENCE, AND ALWAYS TRY TO GET YOURSELF A REPUTABLE, EXPERIENCED LAWYER!

fight with an explanation
You can plead guilty with an explanation.
There is no trail and the police officer will not be there. when you go the court house tell the person at front desk that you want to plead guilty but with an explantion. You wait for your public defendent(free of charge). She will ask you straight up if you did speed 10km over in the 50km. You say Yes I did ma'am and tell her that your foot sliped and the new transmission is a bit tricky (dont get too cute with the excuses). Shes will tell you that the fine might be reduce and no points. Then you go and sit and wait for name to call before a judge. Your lawyer will state your case and that you pleaded guilty with an explanation. The judge will ask you if its correct. You say Yes Sir. Most likely the judge will reduce the fine and no demerit points. You say thank you and leave to pay the reduce fine. Everything should be fine unless you act like a dink.

I was let go with a 10 over, and I asked the police officer if it would effect my insurance. He said,"it shouldn't if you pay it ASAP". So the next day 9AM (9:02 exactly on the receipt) I payed it. It still affects insurance, a ticket is a ticket. That was 3 years ago, a 50 ticket has now cost me over 3000 dollars since my insurance went up a 100 bucks a month. So I say fight it, it won't hurt any.

i'd fight the ticket. you might even get off that ticket because the cop might not want to show up for a small ticket. i went to court for a 5 over, the cop was a big but he never showed up.
