Speeding Ticket

hey guy i screwed up big time, my car stalled and the gas wasn't givin in at 2nd gear and i pressed down and not even 20 feet away i get pulled over for doing 72km/hr on a 40km because it was a safety zone its doubled so i get a ticket for $295 what should i do cause this is my first ticket and i think its 4 points for this. i need help asap

What should you do? First of all come up with a better excuse for court. Your doing 72 in a 40 kmh zone, while in second gear? You should get a ticket for speeding and another for cruelty to motor vehicle.
But seriously, yes it is 4 points. You obviously don't dispute going this speed so there is no doubt as to the officers ability to use the radar or laser. There is also no doubt that the officer got the right vehicle. So I guess its up to you. Do you admit responsibility and pay the ticket or hire an agent (or appear yourself) and hope the crown gives you a break?

points, those tools are useless. Fight it yourself.

but the thing is i was driving a 00 pontiac grand am and it cant go that fast sooo quick when its stock. and the cop didn't even show me my speed on the radar so i'm gonna fight it with a better story of course.

The cop has no obligation to show you your speed on the radar. In fact, at the side of the road he's under no obligation to tell you wether he used radar, laser, or paced you (but the disclosure that he will provide is a different story). Your previous conviction history will be the deciding factor wether or not the crown attorney will make a deal with you. You said this was your first ticket, so that will be your biggest advantage. But remember, police records will reveal every ticket you have had. Not just the convictions in the last 2 or 3 years, but right from the first day you got your licence. I just want you to be aware of that so you dont get caught in a little white lie.

ok i decided to fight the ticket and i also have evidence that my car was having mechanical problems, cause i went to my mechanic right after and he said that i had injector problems, what other kind of evidence can i take with me to court?

A certified medical transcript stating that you are not of sound mind. Your mechanic's statement will do nothing to get you off on this one. One, your mechanic would have to attend court so he can be cross-examined by the Crown, and I really doubt that he's going to do that for you. Two, your mechanic wasn't there when you were stopped and as such cannot give definitive evidence that the car was malfunctioning at the time of the ticket. For all anyone knows, you could have tampered with the car after the fact to try and fabricate an alibi.

ok fought the ticket myself today and the cop showed up as well, so i spoke to the prosecutor and she got it lowered to 55 on a 40 and NO POINTS...man i was soo dam happy cause everyone else didn't get a chance they either had their tickets lowered to just 1 point or just lowered and the fines doubled, why because the cop only handed out tickets to people in community safety zones, dijohn or watever u spell his name from nemisis car audio was there too.

I would try and fight the ticket, because for one your insurance will go up if you don't, and you won't have as much points left. And if you get more points you can lose your license in the future. I fought my two tickets that I got on Canada day, and got it lowered to no points
