Ticket for 17 over

A buddy of mine got busted in a speed trap for driving 67 in a 50.

As I understood it, cops don't usually bust ppl for 15 over? (ok 17 over) And when they do, they usually reduce it to 15 over so you don't get demerit points.

Has anyone else experienced something like this or is this just one ****ing loser cop?

ye, i think that the cop is a looser. Ive gotten tickets for going 15 and 20 over and the cop reduced both to 10 and 15 over repectilvely, thus no points for either and like a 52 dollar fine.
And as far as i kno there is no such thing as 17 over, he is soppose to drop it to 15 over.

Of course he doesn't haveto drop anything, its just that most cops will round down, rather than book you for exactly what you got. 16 km/h over is 3 demerit points and my buddy was going 17. Just two kms less and it would be 0 demerit points. He's a male driver under 25 so his insurance is screwed. He wasn't giving him attitude or anything. When he asked the cop for a break, he was just like, sorry I'm giving everybody a ticket today, try and fight the ticket in court. What an ***!

I've seen so many people do 20 km/h over the limit and the police don't usually pull them over. 20 over is so common, its sometimes the normal speed of traffic. 17 over is nothing. That could be anyone.

Go to court and try to make a deal with the Prosecutor. Catch them on the right day and you might get away with 9 over.
