Ticket on Campus

So coming out of Yorks Keele campus today i was doing like 50-55 since it wasnt busy and its a straight line with grass on both sides (Pond Road Exit).

Anyways ****ing cops have a speed trap set up and are handing out tickets to every other car it seemed like and i was one of them.

Old cops comes up and asks for the usual but when he told me how fast i was going he was like "You were doing 63...64" as if he wasent sure...and after i looked over it a bit he didnt even use a speed gun on me. Anyways, is there any way i can use that against him in court? I had a passanger with me who saw it all but i assume his word is taken over mine but asking just to make sure.

****ing cops having nothing better to do but give tickets to university students alread being rapped by high tuition...****ing pigs.

Do your duty and fight it.

Check off "Not Guilty" and mark "officer required to attend" (keep copy of ticket for yourself).
Take your ticket to the Provincial Offences Office (address on ticket) and request a form for Disclosure. Fill it out and hand it in to the clerk. She will make a copy and give it to you.

Wait for your court date to arrive in the mail.

Mean while, your Disclosure will arrive stating all evidence against you. If a visual estimation is the only means of establishing your speed, then you should have a good chance of beating it (Google for info). At the very least, I'm sure the Crown would be anxious to plea down to a minor charge when you show up for court.

No man i was the black civic...i was so ****ing pissed too...****er ruined my ****ing day!

Anyway, thanks ALOT for the info...i might PM you when i get the info and ask for more help if you dont mind...i really wanna beat this and then find the cop and show him.

He didnt even lower it or anything, he put 20 over and he is like take it to court and ask for me and ill knock off the point...i was thinking its ok, ill try to win since you didnt have me on the gun.

Do you know if they can give a ticket on university campus? its ****ing private property isnt it?

If he didnt have you on a gun you are off the hook, he needs proof of your speed. His eye is not good enough. Its possible another cop was somewhere else with the cop though, so don't be to sure they haven't got you on radar.

So lets say they didnt have me on the gun, what would stop them from saying they did? Thats my biggest problem isnt it? they can easily say they had me on the gun.

they are always there...esp when u are turning from keele onto pond road...they stand behind the sign by the parking garage waiting for you...

lesson learned :P

They need to bring edvidence such as calibration records, reading records etc etc etc... heck if the officer isn't certified on the exact gun he used on you, you're still off. Cops don't tend to lie like that to much risk for them.

All your questions regarding how your speed was derived and weather he used radar, etc. will be answere when you file for Disclosure. The Crown sends all that info to you in the mail.
