Using others address for car Insurance

One of my relatives used my residential address for all his purposes. He used to live in Toronto with his friends on a student VISA and find my address as a stable one.His entire Immigration procedure has been done through my address. I handed over various documents to him that are landed in my mail box.

Lat year we moved to our new house and paid money to Postal Canada to divert the mail to our new address. After this also I have received some of his documents to the new address and were handed over carefully. Recently I have opened one of his envelopes accidentally and shocked to note that it is his car renewal policy. I know that way he is going to save $100 + per month as the area where I currently reside has better premiums than his area.

He was so rude when I questioned him. I reported to his Insurance firm and they cancelled the policy and are silent. I called them today and they replied me that the policy has been cancelled and what happened is not a big deal. Now I am really concerned about my indentity theft. I do not know what all he is doing in my address. I want to report this to police. The problem is the policey as mentioned above is a renewal one and what about the reaction from police? Will they ask me how come he has received his policy in the previouis year? Of course I have my answer. But still I need your suggestions before proceeding to police.

Thanks

You can't choose your relatives. You can choose your dealings with them.

Tell him anything that arrives at your place will be returned. I assume he is using his name (not yours).

Correct me if i'm wrong, but your post was hard to understand. You ratted on a family member for using your address for car insurance?

ya - he ratted out his relative - they were fighting im guessin

identity theft would be him having your mail end up at his house and him pretending to be you

if all he does is send his mail to yer house, its nothing. just mark on the back of it "RETURN TO SENDER" and drop it back into a mail box if you dont want his stuff comming to yer place no mo.

yes, just return it to the sender if it doesnt have your name on it.

That's exactly what you do. You can't control what other people send to your address.

This guy is a relative? Just tell him to f-off or call his parents and tell them what he's been doing. They'll be pleased for sure...

Ive done this for years to get around E-tests and inflated insurance costs. Stop being a prick and help the guy out.
