Warning for sunstrip

so i was on my way to work this morning got pulled over...cop comes up 2 me asks to see my lisense. hes like "do u know why i pulled u over?" im like nope, hes like u cant have anything on ur windshield ie sun visor....(keep in mind i have a 10" blue sunvisor....i doesnt cover half on the windshield about 1/4) anyways he puts his fingers on the outside and asks me to tell him how many fingers he has on it....i say 2...Right, he tries again...3...right again, because the vinyl(sp?) i used is partly see thru if there is sun behind it.....so he gets pissed off that i can see his fingers, he says ill give u 2 chooses, 1) ill give u a 110 ticket or 2) u can take it off today and ill give u a warning, but if i see u around tom or any other day ill keep giving u 110 tickets...and he let me go.....so any1 have any info on if i should take this off??? my reasoning behind it is....1 its has my buddy's shop logo on it and secondly it protects the sun from in the morning/sunset when its right in ur eyes...any1 have any ideas? i know for sure the only reason he asked to see my lisense is to find out where i live cuz he had it for all of 2 secs...
thanks for reading my rant!

just a suggestion, but if i were you, i would take it off, if it's not that cop, it's gonna be different one tomorrow and he probably will tell others about you. Why don't you go to one of the places that makes signs and put your buddy's shop name on the door.

I never understood why people want to limit what they can see out of their windshields. I must be getting old.

73. (1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle upon a highway,

(a) with any sign, poster or other non-transparent material or object placed on the windshield or on any window of such motor vehicle; or

(b) with any object placed in, hung on or attached to the motor vehicle,

in a manner that will obstruct the driver’s view of the highway or any intersecting highway. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 73 (1).

I don't know.. can he really give you a ticket for it?

Along the edge and down about 4-8 inches from the top on all windshields is a "line" with an arrow or sometimes a letter....this symbol about 3/4" in size is the farthest down that tinting is supposed to go

First of all to answer the question, yes take it off. Someone posted section 73(1)of the HTA and that does apply because it refers to obstructing the drivers view of the highway. But there is also another section that applies;

73(3) No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the windshield or of any window to the direct left or right of the driver’s seat has been coated with any coloured spray or other coloured or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle.

That section refers to obstructing the interior of the vehicle when viewed from outside! So even though you could see the cops fingers there may still be an offence. (maybe he should have held them on the inside and checked his own fingers from outside).

what about tint on the windows?

Not legal on the front window or front side windows, unless you can see threw them fine from the outside.
