What Should I Do?

i got in an accident in may. 2 cars in front of me. one to the right of the car up front. light turned green so we went through, the car on the right sped up and cut the guy up front off to turn into the plaza, causing the guy up front to slam his brakes, causing the guy in front of me to slam his and when i slammed mine i skidded into his bumper. it was also raining that day. after the accident the guy came out and checked his car to see what happened. when the cops came he put on a show and said his neck was hurting. all paper work was done and the guy who i hit had his car towed. only thing ****ed on his car was his rear bumper. on mine was the hood/headlight no engine damage. i got a ticket for following too closely...fighting it in court though...i wasnt following closesly...they slammed there brakes causing me to slam mine but i skidded cuz it was sudden. insurance called me back to hear what happened again recently...then they called my dad back... and said they are gonna come over...dunno why...they make it seem like it was my fault and they probably think i rammed the guy without pressing my brakes....what should i do when they come...its not my fault...they slammed there brakes so did i but i skidded cuz the rain...also i had a friend in the passanger seat who saw the guy come out and check his car...so i have a witness to show he was faking the injurty...

what should i do when they question me about what happened again...plz i need some help...dont wanna get ****ed

Just tell the truth. Your story sounds legit. You don't want to start making stuff up, cuz sooner or later, they'll find out.

unfortunately the rule of thumb in rear-end collisions is that it's always the fault of the person behind (hence why you were charged with following too closely) because regardless of what the person infront of you does (i suppose other than backing up or rolling back with standard cars) it is up to you to keep a safe distance from the person infront of you ESPECIALLY in bad weather conditions.

as for your insurance, your best bet is to just tell your adjuster/agent what happened exactly, i don't really see a way you can get out of this with an elaborate made up story and even your story of the guy braking hard won't let you off with insurance. they'll still find you at fault (even worse when you have the police charging you with following too closely). so in the end, i'm sorry to say, you're going to have to make a claim, which will probably drive up your rates and if and when you're convicted on the following too closely ticket, that'll probably drive up your rates as well.

i suppose the only compensation you can try doing is to actually sue the person who cut off the car infront of you in small claims court and claim they were the sole reason for your financial/emotional loss.

Usually this sort of accident results in a careless driving charge, which is more serious than the following too closely. Quite often careless driving is reduced to following to closely in court, so consider yourself lucky in that sense.
