DIesel Engines
I hear that diesel engines are very resoponsive to ecu mods....
because of the vw's tdi model with about 80 hp i surely hope that a few basic mods could bump that way up.... ne of u got experience with them tds? tnx |
You have to remember that the VW TDI is turbocharged... and you can usually get a LOT of HP from a turbocharged engines by changing the ECU chip. With VW's, the boost level is controlled by the ECU, so changing the ECU chip adds a lot more boost, which is why they are able to get so much HP from *just* a chip.
I think with the TDIs, its something like 80 ft lbs of torque, but 30-40hp. Still, thats a pretty huge number. I think TDIs guys just install a chip, and bigger injectors. I've heard that gas milage actually improves when you modify a VW diesel. |
