Jetta or Passat????

which one would be a better chocie to buy and be cheaper on repairs and maintenace? im looking at a 2000 passat 1.8t with 160 000 km, and a 2000 jetta, auto with 140 000 km. the price for both cars are pretty much the same price, but i still need an opinion from a previous owner, or a mechanic.

Buy an older VW, older than 1984. The newer ones suck.

I'd go for the Jetta, although I do like the Passat... they have their share of problems... more so then the Jetta/Golf of that generation as far as I know.

Although you're entitled to your opinion, that's just horrible advise.

I'm a little bitter about my MK3 Jetta's floor rotting out, at 190,000 kms.

Cool, I'm very happy with my new winter beater too. 2003 Nissan Altima. It actually works. Not used to having a car without a tool box in the trunk. I can't even fix it if it breaks, that's Nissan's problem for the next 3 years.:smilie_da

The problem is MK I/II's rot out just as bad.

I've never had a MK1 rot out at that mileage. I've only owned 2 MK2's, and well, the one was bad, but it also had over 389000 kms on it, all in Toronto.
