hey
I just recently got a 2008 jetta and i was wondering where can i start to customize my car from the cheaper side up a bit?

Which motor do you have?

2L, 2.5L, 1.9 TDI, 2.0TFSI

Cz3ch 03-19-2008 11:36 PM

well i have not got it 100%
one more week but it would be the 2.5L i was thinking of a city jetta though the 2.0 should i stick with the normal one or go with the city?

VWJettaMK2 03-19-2008 11:46 PM

City golf/jettas suck. They are 2L motor. the 08 2.5L got 170HP versus the 2L which only gets 115.

Cz3ch 03-19-2008 11:49 PM

alright so ill stick with it. so do you have any suggestions what i should do to it?

Save your money. Stage 1 turbo kit makes something like 240whp for like 3500$ :)

Id start off by buying new suspension(coilovers or cup kit). And then work your way from there. Sign up on VWvortex.com, and go find the 2.5L forum and read, read and do some more reading. Everything thats out there is in those forums.

thanks ill look into that. I started looking at the VW GTI it looks pretty good I like it. Is it something to think about also? I've not seen many customization parts for it like body kits of exhaust systems?

VW's are broken down into generations;

MK = Mark

1979-1984 MK1
1985-1992 MK2
1993-1999 MK3
1999.5-2005.5 MK4
2006-Current MK5

This is my buddys ride;

The mk5's have alot of tunning out, but not as much as the MK4's due to the fact MK4's have been out alot longer. Plus we dont necessarily have "body kits", we call it aftermarket front lips/bumpers, sideskirts, rear valance, etc.

Owning a VW/Audi or any European car is all about how clean it looks. The cleaner it is, the sicker the car is.

I gotta say - I'm not totally convinced that the OP should be buying a dub. No matter how appealing they are to everybody - VW's aren't for just anybody.

At least 4 times a year - I hate my frickin dub - but then it's a gift from heaven the rest of the time.

Well those times that I hate my car make me look to the future and then I just fall in love again.

Besides Im going to sell my 1.8T soon and pick up a 20th anniversary GTI :)

that's what I mean.
Other people will see those "4 times" as a P.I.T.A. - and call it an unreliable POS lemon and sell it to cut their losses.....but the "dubbers"......well............it's a different mentality.

I can't wait till all these "ex-honda-owners-now-1.8T-owners" sell their cars....supply and demand baby....MK4 VR's and 1.8T's will be goin for dirt, because these "ex-honda-owners-now-1.8T-owners" didn't know what they were getting into. They should've been "ex-honda-owners-wannabe-1.8T-owners-but-shoulda-been-Matrix-owners"
(....if that makes sense?!#!$!#!%)
