As for the plant, I think it's an evolution of the high end assembly plants. Volkswagen is planning on assembling high end, and high quality automobiles there, not $15k fords. They also plan on assembling the bentley continental GT's there.

Just imagine how much the cost of that superfluous and redundant plant inflated the price of that already shitty and overpriced POS. Most amusing of all is that no one is buying the Pheaton and it’s turning into a very expensive failure for VW.
not only did that venture create jobs, but in my opinion it is meant to develop image. think about NikeTown (Chicago or wherever the *** it is), do u think that store gives a about sales? they are just there to develop Nike's image and how u perceive the brand.

why would they take such detailed pics of this assembly plant? so that the next time u think about VW u will associate them with that standard. mind games, or whatever u wana call it . it wasn't meant to be a super economical deal...and yea, i do agree that it probably has a lot to do with the Phaeton's silly price tag, but then again, Nike's are usually more expensive than other MAINSTREAM products.

^ yes image also plays a big role in why they built the plant that way. Looking at how and where those cars are built makes me want one.
But they had to build a high end assembly plant, and I'm sure making it look like that didn't cost THAT much more.
Even if the Phaeton didn't sell too well, it was their first attempt at that kind of market, they will eventually build cars there that will pay for the plant and make a profile

That says a lot about our higher maturity and superior work ethic. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to live in a welfare state.

You’re obviously mistaking manufacturing technology with superfluous and redundant things like bling bling.

You obviously completely missed the point. Of course a new plant creates jobs. Did I criticize the fact that they built a new plant, no. But does the bling create jobs, no.

Additionally trying to draw a parallel between an assembly plant and dealership is ridiculous. An aesthetically appealing dealership will absolutely improve image and thus sales. However do you think there would be any logic if Nike had such a lavish looking factory where they manufactured your shoes? There is a big difference between a dealership/Nike Town and an automotive assembly plant/shoe factory.

Have you ever seen where Armani suits are tailored? In an old warehouse by what looks like a geriatric ward. Does that degrade their image and the fact that it’s the best suit you can buy?

Obviously you've never bought/worn a Hugo Boss suit.....they put Armani to shame.

Pure marketing tactic. Though cool, its a big waste of money.

VW's finally fired most of its upper management, they might just start building affordable cars for the masses again and stop trying to move upscale.

No more stupid moves like that plant.
