swap into a '94 GTI

I was wondering if anyone knew a shop in the GTA that could swap a 1.8T engine into a mkIII gti? And also, if anyone knows where I could find a 1.8T engine? Thanks!

Theres alot of shops that can do it for you.

Heres a few shops that come to mind;

- SEM - Strictly European Motorsports
- European Speed Sport
- Lukazports
- H2Sport

Its all about money. How much do you have to spend will determine which motor you get.

For labour your looking at 2000$ and up..Motor & tranny, wiring, etc your looking at(at least the cheapest Ive seen it) about 1800$

But once the swap is done, damn its a whole different story.

I'm guessing performance wise

Yea performence wise,

Depending which motor you get(150 or 180HP) mods can be done to increase HP without killing yourself over the money;

ECU chip/flash - 400-700$ - 30-45HP - 35-55 TQ
Turboback Exhaust - 450-1200$ - 15-20HP - 15-20TQ

Since this is going into a MK3, Im not sure what the exhaust system would be. Also Im guessing the HP. Different brands and sizes give different HP..

which engine would be better?

Depends on what power you want. The AWD has the lowest compression, but it also makes 150/crank HP..AWP makes 180HP but has higher compression.

Also depends on your money situation. If you have 10G's to spend, you can get 180HP/6spd tranny, LSD, plus a mild turbo upgrade and be in the 300HP range...

btw - you're gonna want to do the maintenance on the motor before it actually goes in - gaskets, flanges, fluid changes, etc. The shop shouldn't charge you that much more for the labour - since the motor is already out of the car.

You don't know the true story behind the motor - Save yourself the hassle before it gets worse

^^ What he said. Make sure you do the timing belt & water pump. <-- Most important things.
