have u tried finding what is making it overheat instead of just buying a whole engine it might just be a minor fix.

blue89vert 03-28-2006 07:06 PM

maybe his engine blew up though

Well I have tried fixing it.. lets see, Ive i got new radiator, all new hoses, couple of thermostats, waterpump, temp sensors, tried a new head gasket, and flushed the system multiple times. My antifreeze turns like a orangish rusty color.. i dont knwo what the deal is..

2000v6cam 03-30-2006 03:52 PM

maybe u have rust in ur block and when the antifreeze goes through it picks some of it up have u tried flushing the whole system with that chemical that takes the rust out u can get it from like auto zone

thats a good idea

might be wharped heads causing the overheating. is the coolant youre putting in green to start? cuz it might be dexcool. lol.

but dont trash your motor for another used motor that could have problems as well. take it to a good shop and get it done right.

oh did you look above your air dam? maybe you've got a couple plastic bags stuck in front of your radiator. wouldnt that just piss you off.

joshxj3 03-30-2006 07:52 PM

Yea.. ive tried that cooling system treatment stuff.. those lil crystals or whatever.. put it in let it run then flush it again.. didnt work... and naw no plastic bags haha.. sure would piss me off but i think i would have found that when i changed the radiator.. anyways i dont know.. i cant reall afford to take it to a shop thats why i just wanna find a motor and hopefully be done with it

joshxj3 03-30-2006 07:53 PM

oh yea.. and naw i dont use dexcool.. just good ol green antifreeze

Will a 3.8 work instead? To be honest I see more 3.8's then 3.4's.

joshxj3 03-30-2006 08:14 PM

naw it wont.. there would be too much converting involved with that... pretty much everything would need to be swapped.. i wish tho

josh i have the same problem, the dex turns a rusty water color. looks like wet dirt or something. I was just flushing my system today, give it a good flush. (Mine was overheating too.) system runs high its at about 220F (middle) so i think I'm gonna flush her again and treat the system. BTW im running stock radiator and hoses...NO THERMO. take the thermo out... it just gets in the way. it got cooler...but i wanna run lower then 200f. lemmie know how you do. get the prestone flush kit, and flush it while she is running for a good 10-20 minutes.

Rust in your coolant is a well known problem with the 3.4 v6.... try EVANS NPG-R Waterless Coolant................... run a Low Temp T-Stat, hotwire your fans or get a Fan Switch............ another good idea is Water Wetter if you wanna run Green coolant......
