its not easy making a v6 beastly but it can be done and a good intake and exaust are always a good place to start

What are you looking to spend? It's going to cost a lot to make that 3.4 beastly. Intake and exhaust is an improvement but it won't be much. You'd be better off and it would end up being cheaper to just get a z28.

Read the article on some insight into the 3.4l ohv engine or something like that, i have the same car as you, and am thinking about going that route, just simply because i would have a beastly 3400, and no one would expect that.

I love that article, and read it at least twice already... I wonder the cost of it? Some of the things that guy did can be expensive if you don't have hook-ups...

I think my mechanic told me for a rebuild and everything id probly be looking at around 1500 with parts. but that was before i painted his deck, so im not sure.

Rebuild it yourself... It's good experience, and it's a whole lot cheaper. But if you have a friend that can do that type of stuff, make sure they're around so you don't eff it up too bad.

Or find a new engine with low miles like I did... $500 for an engine with 52k on it, exact same engine.

A rebuild would really only let your car go longer, and perform a little better do to the loss of performance over the years... Carbon build up, and that type of stuff.

I meant that 1500 included all the parts for the 3400 upgrade too, the heads, the injectors, plenum, pistons, and all the little stuff to make it work, I would be more than happy to attempt the rebuild myself, but i am a little short tool wise, i do get to help out my mechanic on my car though.

thanks guys i found a beastly 93 z28 and bought it yesterday so im keeping my v6 but now i have that z28 but i might also try some things with the v6 im not sure yet and i did read that thing about the v6 a few times already like last week lol

Hey I Took some pictures of my camaros
idk what im going to do with the v6 probably just keep it
the purple is my 94 v6 and the yellow is my 93 z28
can someone tell me if thats an lt1 in my z28 becsuse my buddys dad told me its a 350 and idk cuz i know it was in an accident and he thinks they replaced it with a 350 but the guy who sold it to me says its an lt1

oh 2k idk cuz i bought it for 2,800 and i put a few things in it and an 800 dollar system and that was only like a 2 months ago i bought it
but i got question
my z aint starting and i know its the battery but idk if its my alternator isnt charging it or the battery is just bad but the belt and stuff is making a wistle sound kindof and i didnt hear that the other day i dotn really wanna take the battery out to go get it checked if its just the alternator or the belt

im pretty sure if you take the alternator in to a like an autozone type place they can check it and tell you if its still working good...as for the car i'll try to talk to him its kinda hard cause im outa town right now but i'll try callin him tmrw and i'll shoot you a pm when i do

Nice. Now you should sell me your 3.4 for cheap and use the proceeds as mod money! Have you done the free mods yet? It took me like a half an hour to do mine about 7 years ago.

Well there are a couple of things you can do to get a few extra ponies to the wheels. Here they are:

1) Its called the throttle body bypass.

Explanation: You need to disconnect the coolant line going into the throttle body and the line coming out of the throttle body. Then all you do is patch the lines together using a small piece of metal pipe, or get one of those metal fittings from autozone to patch 2 rubber lines together. Lastly, just cap up the fittings on the throttle body using vacum caps from autozone.

Cost = about $6.00
Gain = around 3-5 hp

2) Descreen your Mass Airflow Sensor

Explanation: All you do is remove your mass airflow sensor and take out the screen elements (not applicable to 93) If you remove the screen elements, be sure no to bump into the resistors that stretch accross the MAF sensor, as if you knock one off, then you have to buy a whole new sensor.

Cost = FREE
Gain = some people say about 3 rwhp

FINAL around 8 FREE rwhp

If you want to sell the 3.4 car to me, mull it over and come up with a price. I am in the market for a rolling chasis, but would consider the 3.4 if the price is right.

Lots of stuff, but before I tell you about it, I wanted to clarify something. If you do the TB bypass, you will need to bleed your coolant lines to get the air out. It is easy, there is a little screw coming out of one of the lines, you just start the car, and crack that screw, just a little bit to let the air out. After only coolant is coming out of the bleed screw, just tighten it back up. If you dont do this, your car will overheat.

Now to the mods...

The absolute best place to start is with a cold air intake and a free (er) flowing exhaust. Your goal is to reduce the restrictions or (bottle necking) that the factory set-up naturally has. A good cold air intake, and what i consider to be the most styleish one is the SLP version, however they all serve basically the same purpose. Next, check out a set of long tube headers. Pacesetter offers a great header at a low cost. Go long, or dont go at all. Shorties or mid-length headers are not worth the money or the effort of installing them. Next you need to start thinking about the rest of your exhaust, increase the pipe diameter and put a better flowing muffler on it and you will see a huge difference. Also consider an ignition, MSD 6AL is a good and economical choice. An alluminum driveshaft reduces the amount of reciprocating weight, and helps acceleration. A set of gears will make it feel like you are driveing a whole new car, 3.73s still offer good fuel mileage and highway speeds, but anything bigger and you are compromising your top end speed.

Alright...95 Vette, you are looking at an LT1 car very similar to the same setup as yours. I believe the LT1 in the Vette was rated somewhere to the tune of 305-315 rather than the 285 of yours. This increase was attibuted to a slightly larger cam profile, a detuned KNOCK sensor in the computer (all this does is helps the computer to ignore false knock, so that it does not retard timeing) and a higher flowing exhaust and intake. Depending on the actual health of your LT1 ie. mileage and wear and tear, the power can be easily made.

Start with a good exhaust (bigger pipes, no cat or hight flowing cat), headders etc. (could be around 1,000 for new stuff. Next,

Buy a cold air intake (maybe 200)

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE ALOT MORE POWER THAN

Buy a set of heads, get them ported (2500)

Port your intake (150)

Add roller rockers (comp makes a good set "R", usually runs around 350)

58mm throttle body (350)

An aggressive new streetable cam (200)

A torque converter to launch (500 or so)

In short, check my thread in the for sale section and buy that stuff. That will make over 500, I will sell it cheap too. :-)
