Maybe you mean 99-2000 civic front bumper.
96-98 is slightly different and will not fit properly if you have a 99-2000 civic with a stock front end.

Remember a lot of folks have change the front end on 96-98 to 99-2000 also for the look, fogs etc. so be sure that yours is a 97 with a 97 front. If it is all stock, then yes, 96-98 is what you need. GL
