engine bay cleaning 101
#16
Well the !wire mod is easy to explain- look at the passenger fender. You re-route the wires below the fender to give it a MUCH cleaner look.
I'm still waitin for the !latch mod..but I'm always open for ideas to make the engine bay look even cleaner

thanks again guys.
Joe, the latch cable(im sure you know how to, or at least can figure out how to remove it from the latch mechanism) just take it out from there and pull it all the way back to where it is only coming out of like the firewall, then i wrapped a coat hanger real tight around the end, and pulled it through the inside of the fender out into the same spot, there is a small spot that allows for the rerouting, however i used a prybay to get a little more room, i needed to bend something i remember(ill get pics over the weekend). it took me abuot 10 minutes total to due, some say you should drill out the spot bigger but i just bent one part in a little to clear it, and its been fine since.like i said ill get some upclose pics.
as for the OVC wires, never had a problem. the one thing that absoultely sucks about them is cutting them and crimping on the ends, and sliding the boots over them, but other than that no problems.
a few other "cleaner engine bay" tips, remove all the silver heat wrap from the harnesses. makes it all black, or the color of your harness and doesnt look goofy like stock.
take off the yellow fuel tags. we know whats in there, dont need to announce to everyone who looks under the hood that they might be flamable. also, taking off that whole fuel line loom makes for a bit of a cleaner look.
this winter i plan on filling in the holes left from the !wire mod, as well as possibly filling in the sharp edges where the two parts of the strut tower come together, then making the smooth so they look all one peice, and repainting them. well see.

My engine bay was cleaner when I bought it than it is now
It's completely spotless when I bought it and after doing a carfax I found out the car wasn't driven more than 1,000 in the two years before I bought it.
But now that I have a DD for the winter things will change. I'm going to have a spotless engine bay after this winter.
