was this the one in aug performance auto and sound? they have a good article of the LS1 in the rx7 and comparisions etc with a rotary rx7... not sure i just skimmed thru the thing.

im, I think that the ppl that built this RX-7 also could tune a rotary, they were'nt exactly idiots ya know, just look at where all those parts are from, smart enought to convert and build this ride but too dumb to tune - ya ok, I buy that:lol_hitti

It's not that I don't appreciate the engine, I know that it makes one hell of a fast RX-7, my problem is that if you didn't want a rotary engine in the first place, why buy an RX-7? If you want an LSx, sell the RX-7 and buy a Corvette.
As much as you might think there are LSx powered RX-7's, I bet you there are a lot less properly built ones like this one (from the available pics anyways)... And people wanting to swap in LSx motors into RX-7's is different from actually doing it... There's always going to be a fad, regarless of the trend... it's just that only some follow through with it, where others just dream. And while I don't think LSx powered RX-7's are a fad (at least for serious owners) it most definatly is a fad for the internet/keyboard generation of automotive enthusiasts along with many other "current" fads. |
Having an RX7 with a vette motor makes it more of a unique and interesting car than spending the money on an actual corvette. Although it's obvious alot of cash was put into this car, for guys who want to crank out an abundance of torque with a stock reliable motor in their 240sx, RX7 or whatever, dropping a small block V8 is definately the cheapest way to do it. You'd be amazed at how well light weight japanese cars with V8s outperform vettes and high output stangs and SS cameros on a track.
Personally, I don't think anything is cooler than a japanese car with a V8 idling lumpy and with ground shaking grunt. Nelson |
