been saying a bunch of stuff. anyways, found the forum today and joined. looking to expand my automotive community. heres my project. its my first car but money's tight. I'm a student and tuition/living is expensive so i do my best.

its a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 with 85 iroc ground effects (put on by previous owner)
originally purchased without an engine heres whats up so far.

Engine:
010 casting small block chevy bored .060" over. (done by previous owner) / pre-smog heads
hypereutectic pistons (done by previous owner)
edelbrock camshaft 477/477 (done by previous owner)
edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake manifold
Holley model 4150 4777c 650cfm carb, mech secondaries, man choke, squarebore.
hooker competition headers
taylor performance HEI dizzy with MSD streetfire wires.
rebuilt with all ARP bolts, new flywheel mated to a T-5 5-speed.

To come:
UMI suspension bits: subframe connectors, wonderbar, lca's, lcarbs, adjustable panhard bar.
Eibach pro-kit with koni-yellows on all 4 corners.
swap to disc posi rear end (if the current one isn't posi, dunno haven't started it yet)
once I finish school (in like.. 5-6 years) if i still miraculously have this camaro, I'm going to build a twin turbo small block and shoot for 1000-1600hp, yet keep it still streetable (beauty of turbos).

here are some pics. not very clean. figure if i wash it it'll just get dirty again. the dirt protects it from other dirt while its inoperable.

Yep, your right. I think all the GM engineers slept when they had their class on reliability and fuel economy.
And yeah the graph looks strange because it takes time for the turbo to spool up i guess.2800rpm and its spooled up like in any Turbo car. Its sausuge before the turbo kicks in tho.

Funny you should say that, GM trucks are among the most reliable cars in the world. the small block chevy is incredibly reliable through its simplicity. their fuel economy isn't nearly as bad as you think., especially when you consider the power you get from cars such as the new camaro and the vette, they're very efficient for the power they make. besides, this is a site for enthusiasts, speed costs money, how fast do you want to go. when you lose a race, do you take solice in the fact that you used less gas than the winner? think about this, the 2.4L ecotec in the chevy malibu gets 3mpg MORE than a toyota camry. GM's ecotec 4cyl is actually a descent engine, granted, GM's non-V8's in the past 20 years have been less than stellar, today they're actually quite good. should look up the numbers on competing cars. I'm not a GM or domestic fan. I'm not ignorant. I know that the japanese make good cars, so do europeans. I like many of them. I love audi's and BMW's and Nissans. but you have to agree, 118ft lbs of torque is really not that much, my lugnuts are almost torqued that high.

I understand the turbo's have to spool, but ZERO hp? how can it be making absolutely no power? theoretically it shouldn't even be able to make it to 2800rpms without any power. its impossible.

Ford Mustang GT SN95

Here is one of my cars.

Best 1/4 Mile time is 10.3 @ 133mph on 94octane pump gas, only @ 15psi, and a very conservative launch.

I am not going to fill up the thread with my pictures, but if you want more you can follow these links

One more here!

Ford Contour SVT 3L

And here is one of my other cars worth posting here...

Took almost the whole summer to put the car together. Although it could have been done faster, I rather do things slowly taking my time and without cutting corners.

The car is a 1999 Ford Contour SVT.

There are a lot of FWD haters out there, but once they watch some touring car racing, they might change their mind. (this car is far away from being a touring car, but it is a well set up car for some serious track action)

It'll be no pig in a straight line either... On the 1/4 mile, it should be able to pull a 12.9x - 13.1x easly (atleast that is what we are aiming for, and with proper tuning it is easly achievable, since we have already done a 13.5 @ 104mph witha similar set up car, and on the first run without launcing hard and being properly tuned, this car has a shorter final drive, and less weight which it'll help out getting even better times)

Mod list as follows (as much as I can remember)

Drivetrain:

- 3L Duratec 24v DOHC engine (same engine found in Ford Escape's and also Noble M12's, Noble's are Forced inducted)
- Mondeo ST220 Upper Intake Manifold, Ceramic Coated
- Mondeo ST220 Lower Intake Manifold
- Custom Intake
- 65mm Ford Mustang Throttle Body
- Contour SVT Cams
- Clevite 77 Performance Bearings
- MSDS Headers
- Custom 2" Stainless Steel True Dual Exhaust w/2 Magnaflow Mufflers per bank
- 26lb Ford Mustang Injectors
- Custom Return Fuel Rail
- Quaife LSD
- Capaldi Racing Straight Cut Final Drive
- Spec Stage 3+ Clutch
- Spec Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel
- Moroso Racing Oil Accumulator w/Electronic Valve Unit
- Misc OEM Ford parts and Mods to get the SVT Cams to work with this engine (ie timing chains, tensioners etc...)
- SCT Xcal 2 for Tuning

Suspension, Chassis and Brakes
- Koni Yellow Struts
- Ground Control Coil Overs
- Custom 6pt rollbar
- Custom Subframe Connectors
- Willwood Four Piston Forged Billet SuperLight Calipers (front)
- Two piece 13" Coleman Rotors (front)
- Two piece 11.75" Coleman Rotors (rear)
- Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines

Interior & Misc
- Battery Relocated to the trunk (Optima Red Top Sealed)
- Corbeau Forza Seats
- Corbeau 3" 5 point Harness Belts
- Sparco 333 Black Suede Steering Wheel
- Sparco Tecno Shift ****
- Blox Racing Lightweight Aluminum Lug Nuts

Wheels
- 17"x7" OZ Racing Superleggera wrapped with 225/45-17 Falken Azenis RT215 (street)
- 17"x7.5" Kosei K1-R wrapped with 225/45-17 Avon Tech-R Slicks (track)

Here are some pictures

The Heart

Engine finaly in the car. Valve covers are taped up not to damage the bling bling 3 stage metalic powder coating

The car sees daylight after 2 months

Meeting it's older brother for the first time

OMG!!! where is my face?

Interior is almost back together

Front end back on

I hate the stupid long North American bumpers

Sun is shining

Exhausted!

Baseline Tuning starts!

It is finaly idling on its own, plated, insured, and trying to break in the engine/clutch etc...

Before it gets sent to Steeda Canada to get fine tuned, the weather turned for the worst, and it is stored for winter until spring 2010

Hope you liked seeing something different (:
