Cool Motor Swap, Wire Tuck, No Sleep = 56K Death

Well, I had a fun 2 yrs with my B16 but it was finally time to move up and get more power for my coupe. So after much consultation i decided to go ahead and swap it for a GSR. Not just any old GSR mind you, a built one . I decided to keep this on the DL or at least attempt to and wait until my project was complete before letting the cat outta the bag.

So we went ahead as planned and 30 hours later it was all completed. Working on almost no sleep each night we were at the shop constantly for 4 days and nights. While the motor was out of the car it was decided to paint the engine bay and wire tuck some of the components of the motor and headlights to make it cleaner. You will see why we did this in the pictures below. It was badly needed. Anyways onto the pics and discriptions.

Motor Coming out

Painting the Engine Bay and Starting to Tuck the Wires:

Over the years my EG coupe has had many different looks. Starting out as a stock red 95 DX Civic it then went onto being painted red again. Then from there for a short while it was painted lime green. Regretting that horrible decision the car was quickly changed from green to championship white. Due to a year of bad luck the paint on the car was not in the best shape so about a month ago the car was painted Championship White again. Notice the multicoloured engine bay. Red, green, white and black (from another engine bay painting attempt) are all present and make the whole bay look like garbage. This needed to be done badly.

First Layer Of Paint:

Wire Tuck

At 8am saturday morning after a night of wire tucking sanding, prepping and painting the engine bay had its first coat of black paint. The engine bay instantly looked a lot better and was hard to believe that just a few hours before it looked like a Christmas elf exploded in there. The pictures were taken on a cell phone so sorry for the quality.

Motor Swapped, Wires Tucked and Put Back Together:

As you can see the new motor is sitting pretty in these pictures. The engine bay is completed as far as our wire tuck was going. It was not a complete tuck but a nice one to clean up from the HIDs and other wires that were in the way.

Just a nice shot of the header

Putting all the panels back on the car. The fenders, hood, headlights, bumper, corner lenses. license plate and corner markers.

My baby finally off of the jack stands and on the ground for the first time in almost 4 days.Well after all that work, I still needed a few fine tuners before the car was complete. I went to a muffler shop on Monday to install a high flow cat (Magnaflow) and needed to chip my ECU again so that I could rev higher.

After a hectic weekend and monday the Civic finally got some time to sit down and rest. I must say I think that the swap went very well and definately looks a lot better than it did before. Just need to figure out a way to keep the Spoon N1 exhaust quiet. With the GSR motor, Megan header and highflow cat its loud as a ****.

After Motor Swap Complete

Also some specs of the motor:

Block:
-came from a race car and is fully built with ARP headstuds, P30 pistons, etc....

-Mugen Head Gasket
-Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket
-Skunk2 Intake Manifold
-CTR cams
-Skunk2 Cam Gears
-ITR valvesprings and retainers
-Megan Header
-ITR red valve cover

That engine bay makeover with the paint was a worthwhile investment.

Congrats
