Nissan Announces North American Sales Channel for GT-R

NEW YORK – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. President and CEO Carlos Ghosn today announced that the next generation of Nissan’s renowned GT-R performance car will be available in North America and badged as a Nissan model, consistent with its global branding. The GT-R, which was previewed in concept form as the GT-R PROTO (shown above), has not previously been offered for sale in North America. The GT-R will debut in production form at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007, followed by the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2008. More details on the launch of the GT-R will be available at a later date.

LOLOLOL

They just better price it below the Corvette or their going to have a stinker on their hands.
Cause I can tell you right now, that numeros people would rather pay 65K (U.S) for a Z06, than 70K-80K (Rumored price range of the GTR) for a Nissan.

How the hell can you pre-order a car, when they havent revealed the production model yet, Remember people that IS the GT-R PROTO, although Carlos did say that Proto is 90% of what the production car will look like, its still not production car, I can garuntee you those CF trim will disapear.
and heres another thing.
How in hell can you pre-order something, when they havent even revealed the price, and when its going on sale, sure spring 2008 makes sense *rolleyes*.
The car is still being tested at the Nurburgring.

Not unless your the Prez of NIssan Canada, do I see anyone else pre-ordering one from Nissan-Japan. wait Nissan-Japan, that would mean the car is RHD.

I Smell BS.

people pre-order pre-production cars ALL THE TIME, typically with high-end ferrari's or lambo's which usually have insane waiting lists if you wait till after production. for some money isn't an issue and all they want is to get their hands on the latest craze, in this case having the all new GTR.

yes we can import the older model Skyline's, but they have to be 15 years old or older to be able to drive on the streets in Canada. So right now, u can get a 1991 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R

or..

you can get a Skyline which 1-14 years old and have it in Canada, but it will have to be a show car and cannot be driven on the streets untill it's 15 years old.

in an article in Sport Compact car they speculated that the motor will be either a turbo/twin turbo VQ motor, or a v8 from one of the high end infiniti's.

The engine is a Twin-Turbo VQ series engine that is currently being tuned by Cosworth. Nissan has already trademarked the code VQ35DETT.
Now whats intresting is that Cosworth is working on it, to get that last HP out of it, god I cant wait. and other intresting tidbits is that
Lotus is working on the chassis. excuse me while I go clean myself, just hearing those 2 companies makes me get exicted.

Cosworth+Lotus = Pure sex.
