I don't think you've been through tech lately at TMP, it's pretty strict and than would have been noticed.

lol... every time I've been through tech at TMP, the only thing they really look for is if the battery has a proper tie down, so I can totally believe that they didn't look hard enough for the nitrous kit even w/o a bottle connected or in the car.

You must have got off light. They were checking oil seepage from my crankcase breather, tire clearance, loose objects in the car ( cd's), made sure the helmet met their standards, and a good once over of the trunk.
