Pics: Spoon Acura RL
So what do you get when you add the genius of Acura’s technology, mix it with one of Japan’s premier aftermarket icons – Spoon Sports, bunch it all up in this new sedan, you get an endurance car ready to mash on any other 4 door the road has to offer!
The Spoon RL sports a highly modded 3.5-liter engine. Built and fully balanced for the track, the RL now rocks a Spoon Sports Venturi big throttle body, air cleaner, radiator hose set, and baffled oil pan. Engine management is carried out by a Spoon Sports original reprogrammed ECU. A modified drive shaft matched with an electrical oil cooler take care of the drivetrain.
From the factory the car is blessed with independent front and rear suspension. The front sports a double wishbone with coil springs, while the rear is multilinked, both supported by OEM stabilizer bars. The original suspension of the car was then replaced with a Spoon Sports Damper Kit with Full Spec Straight Springs to ensure proper handling around the course. The upgraded suspension allows the RL to handle the tiniest corners and keeps enhanced stability. The RL sticks to the ground on a set of signature Spoon yellow finished custom 18 x 8.5 Volk Racing TE37 wrapped in Yokohoma Advan rubber.
The chassis has been prepped to meet all FIA Gr-A Specs. Once the car hits the track, driver Derek Hill, cozies up in a Spoon Sports Carbon Bucket Seat tied back by a Takata MPH304 racing seat belt harness. Navigation is carried out by, yup you guessed it – a Spoon Sports steering wheel. Fitted with the highest quality in hand crafted roll cages, the RL features an impressive safety cage to protect the driver in the case of any unexpected mishaps. Featuring the latest in electronics and safety equipment, the RL is strictly business with no extra gadgets, radio, or any of the nice amenities you’d see in a $50,000 dollar B-list luxury car, so getting into the ****pit of one of these will make you seriously think twice about running the 25 hours of Thunderhill. Endurance is one thing this car has, engineering is another, but the passion that has been put in to building such great Honda/Acura vehicles is something only Spoon Sports can ever claim.

Nice. Someone else who thinks the way I think about that car.

Colours and graphics kill it. I like spoon in a simple white with the black C/F hood and a subtle decal over the exhaust. But since that car is obviously a marketing tool I can see why they did it like that.

some other pics of this thing
Rear differential oil is cooled using a heat exchanger mounted behind the left-rear suspension. This pump and plumbing circulate the oil. Other exotic bits underneath include stock carbon-fiber-reinforced driveshaft (left), stainless-steel exhaust (bottom), and aluminum subframe and control arms
Fueling is taken seriously in endurance racing as evidenced by the RL's triple pump/surge tank setup which ensures proper fuel supply to the engine at all times. That's a 32-gallon fuel cell
Inside, the RL is all business. A Spoon Sports carbon shell bucket seat, five-point harness and Momo steering wheel make up the driver's working environment.
