Hey guys got this car i'm building here its 1969 rs camaro. let me know what you guys think of the car.
Not really too much to look at right now, but it gives you a pretty good idea of what's to come. The rear rims are 20" x 14" wide with a massive Mickey Thompson street radial on them. Massive lip on them, I could probably curl up inside one of these rims haha. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3468.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3459.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3456.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3455.jpg The car is going to sit around 4-5" off the ground and be painted satin black hence "project darkness". Everything is going to be painted or powder coated black, except the rims lol. As for a plowerplant, the owner is still deciding what engine block will take the abuse two turbos are going to throw at it :headbang: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3507.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh193/RPM-2/Project%20Darkness/DSCF3509.jpg Picked up the tranny for it today....even its black, the bellhousing is getting painted too. BTW its a T56 6-speed from a Viper The engine is set back 5in, now thats insane. The drive seat in this car will pretty much be in the back and there will be no back seats. This is going to make for some crazy weight balance and weight transfer. Hoping for 50/50 balance Attachment 161834 Attachment 161835 Attachment 161836 |
looks like its gonna be pretty sweet when done. whats he using for a motor? looks to be rfom the newer ls family of gm motors.

...
|
thats definitely an LS motor, hard to tell which one tho. Thats a rediculous dish on those rear rims, thats gonna look awesome once the cars done. keep us posted.
|
wow that is a serious dish.. must be a pain to dial in the rear end.. but nice.. yea def a ls motor

Its a 5.7L ls1 block but thats not whats going to be used. We haven't figured out if we want to go with a ls7 stroker or a twin turbo engine. the ls1 is just there for mock up. The engine is set back 5 inch right now so it has a lot of room in the front. When the cars down it will have 50/50 weight.
heres and update. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3522.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3525.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3526.jpg Attachment 161786 There will be a new roof going on this car later on Attachment 161787 Attachment 161788 Attachment 161789 Attachment 161790 Attachment 161791 Attachment 161792 Attachment 161793 Attachment 161794 Attachment 161795 |

This thread is awesome!
I love progress threads. |
that looks fantastic man. looks like the car is gonna be ready to make alkot of power and like itll be able to safely turn some very quick times. great pipe work too. what do you guys expect the total cost to be? easily over 100g id imagine.
also seems like your replacing the entire cars body piece by piece. lol |
Nice build! I'm now subscribed! Looking forward to seeing it built, keep it up!

also seems like your replacing the entire cars body piece by piece. lol Thanks for all the good comments guys. This car here cost just over 100g to build witch we did. This car was built from the ground up it was a turn key car when it left here. The paint job it self cost 35g but its a perfect paint job and it makes the car look even better. This car came in as a glove-box car. Almost everything was replaced on this car. This car has a custom full tubler frame, 2002 ls1 engine with the iron block so that it can handle the power better, also has a cam and a couple of small things like a full standalone race computer and etc. This car makes 450hp and 450+ lbs torque. We got a lil more done today. have a look drilling out the old spot welds Attachment 161737 Attachment 161738 The start of the custom fuel cell, We got one from summit racing but it just did workout how we were planing on plus Chris didn't like it to much so were building a new one. Attachment 161739 Attachment 161740 Attachment 161741 The filler will be on the tail panel but the sparco logo will be welded over to make it look clean and it will be powdercoated satin black. Amazing progress!
100gs is EASY to spend on a car built right. Its easy to go fast on the cheap, but it doesnt last. But to build a nice car bumper to bumper with all the nice toys it sure does start to add up. 35k on paint is nuts! |
