SS Hood "Finally" Installed Today!!!
 

That's right,..........you read it correctly, I actually have the friggin hood on my car after all this time! This "HAS" to be the record for the longest mod awaiting install in the history of the site. :D (If not, it's gotta be close)

And after all that time I had to put up with the dumbsh!t's excuses,...........and also claiming that he was "the man" for fixing my warped hood.........it's still fu*ked up big time! :mad: The rear corners actually turned out great, but the front, (especially the passenger's side) is still way too high. I may have to pin it down in the front. :(

Anyway, I was in a hurry to get the thing on before it got dark so that I could snap some photos,......so I didn't bother messing with the alignment, I'll take care of that tomorrow. Now most of these pictures are going to be on the driver's side because of the high left corner, so some of them will look very similar........

Looks fricken awesome Arch. A great combination of exterior mods! The pics with the dark clouds in the bg look awesome! Congrats on finally getting the hood installed, it compliments the rest of your car, and just looks badass.

"WOW"......you guys are awesome man! :thumbsup: I really do appreciate all the nice things said about the way it looks. And even though it's not a perfect fit, once I get it aligned it won't be all that noticable. (but I'll still be buying a higher quality hood for it this winter.

To answer your questions Tom........yeah, I have the grill insert for it, I just forgot it at home when I borrowed my Bro-in-laws van to go pick it up, but it's in there now. ;) No, it's not funtional as in the "SS Ram Air" unit that sits on top of the motor. Those things IMO defeat the purpose of have the cold outside air coming into the motor, and that's because it does sit right on top of the "HOT" motor, which inturn heats it up before entering the intake. I'll stick with the CAI, it works better for that. :)

And last but certainly not least......it "IS" infact an aftermarket hood that I bought off eBay, and was without a doubt, THE "BIGGEST"MISTAKE, I've ever made since I bought the car. I "CANNOT" stress this enough when it comes to anybody thinking about buying a fiberglass hood off eBay.......DO NOT DO IT!!! :banghead:

I love those pics too,......infact they've become my favorite pictures ever taken of my car. The one that's really dark.....I think I'm going to have that one printed out on Photo Paper and Framed. :D

Sorry Jason...:(....I'd love to tell you that I did, but the only way I can currently post pictures here, (with my lack of computer knowledge) is to put the setting on the camera at the lowest setting. Otherwise they're too big to post in a thread.

I can and will however take some more pictures of it with the camera set on the higher resolution after I get the hood aligned, and get it all cleaned up. I'll go out and find a killer spot for a Photo Shoot so that I'll have something that's maybe "Calendar" worthy should it make the Grade. :)

Wow, an SS hood is definately going on my priority list. :) Dude, it looks amazing. Your car looks so bad, man! In the future we might have close to the same cars, but with different colors. ;) Damn, that looks good though. Congrats.

I can't think of anything that would make your car look better if it were only about changing one thing on it. And you're right....they would look identical from the fron aside from the color. (And I'd be pissed too, cause I'd love nothing more than to have my car Super High Gloss Black.

Oh well, as long as it stays clean, it look's good. So, my next project is going to be getting the top of the car painted black, and then I'll have to finally make up my mind about painting the center post's of my wheels black.

I snapped these pics before I even took the hood out of the van, just because of how shiny it looked in there. It's not so noticable during the day because the white is so brite, but when the sun starts going down, the hood has a bit more shine to it. I guess it's time for some more polish and wax. ;)

I have to disagree on the eBay thing. Its not that you bought it off eBay, its who you bought it from and who made the hood that really matters. But its a given fact that aftermarket parts don't fit as well as the real thing.


Car looks really nice. I'm not fan of the SS hood, but I think it looks good on your car.

I'm guessing that those parts you've had for a year or two, are things you bought and have been sitting somewhere until you can get them installed? If so, then I guess I should have phrased it differently.....you see, I've been posting threads about the progress of my hood for close to 7 months now, there's been someone slowly working on it and telling me it's gonna be done by a certain time, only to have me post another thread saying "it's finally gonna happen" only to get jerked around again.

But hey, I guess if you've had something for over a year that's still awaiting installation, then you've got me beat by a long shot, and apparently my post should have been shorter with just a: "ok my hood's done and here's the pictures....Period.

As far as disagreeing with me on the ebay thing......well, that's your choice. I realize that companies like RKSport sell things on eBay sometimes, but as far as I'm concerned, that's actually buying it from them, and that wasn't what I was talking about. Again, next time I'll make sure I'm more careful in the way I explain myself about something so that you'll be happy, and I won't have to spend my time defending what I posted in a thread that's supposed to be about showing everybody the pictures of my new hood. But, I never stop warning people about the SH*TTY FUKED UP hoods that they're selling on eBay.

Although you decided to spend the first 80% of your post tryin to one up me or disagree with what I said about eBay, I do appreciate your compliment about the hood looking good on my car, even though you really don't like the SS hoods. I'll give you credit for being honest, and at least you had something nice to say in there towards the end, which is more than I can say for someone else who decided that instead of complimenting on how my car looks, (whether it be good or bad) he'd rather just come in here and try to be funny by defacing one of my pictures.

So, now that I'm finished with my rant, I want to say thank you to everyone who had enough thoughtfulness to say they really liked my car with the new hood on it.

I don't think Caleb was 'defacin' one of your pics, just kinda making a joke that your stock hood is sad because it isn't on your car anymore.

I bought my first hood for my car off ebay, but it happened to be a Harwood that someone was selling so I don't count that as what you would call an "ebay" hood. I know what you meant and fully agree. I have seen many people both local and here that have bought a cheap hood threw some paint at it and called it good. You hate to tell them that you think it looks good because IMO, a crappy fitting wavy aftermarket hood looks worse than a stock one.

But being a person that pays attention to the small details, I think your wait for your hood was worth it. It fits pretty good considering what you started with. I like the look, now you just need to get some go-fast parts under that hood!!

Oh yeah- I posted almost two and a half years ago about my stroker so my waiting mod time is longer..:nana:

yea that hood seems to fit pretty well from the pics. I have a Harwood and its kinda crappy, you can see where the the design is off in the pics and mine sticks up on the drivers side by the light.

I too have to disagree about the longest install tho.. last things I've heard about my car being painted were.. it'll be done thursday or friday before u leave for vacation!.. it wasn't so then I heard it'll be done when u get back FOR SURE... it wasn't.. so then it was I'll try for friday it'll be done this weekend FOR SURE.. and again this is most recent and today is part of said weekend.. I called up yesterday and got.. it'll be done monday or tuesday.. but this time I put my foot down that it has to be monday cuz I am having a major surgery on tuesday getting my jaw broke in multiple places and having to stay overnight.. and then who knows wut my condition will be days after that I only trust myself to drive it home but I don't trust myself when my jaw is killing me :( Not as long as some other ppl but for 8 1/2 months I've been attempting to get the car painted.. changed my mind on color 3 times.. got a new set of gfx, new wheels, tires, stall, shift kit, tranny cooler (all due to the first ppl messing up the trans :mad:), badges, taillights and all of it is either with the car or sitting at home waiting to be installed. A couple of my friends ask me about the car all the time as well and it gets tiring going back to them and saying it wasn't done when I thought it would be or I didn't get the gfx yet like I thought I would. I've gone to just not even saying hardly anything about it to ppl I don't talk to all the time.. such as my friend last nite who asked about it and I vaguely answered.. it's getting painted.. same answer for ppl across the street haha and when they ask wasn't it getting painted months ago I just say yea.

you have a very impressive camaro, especially being an pre 98 camaro. You car is somewhat what i wish my could look like but do to mechanical problems i have given up on that idea and am looking for a better one. Very nice camaro and very impressive.

ok let me just say that is ugly......no im kidding thats sick man! it definately matches the lipkit.All u need now is some clear headlight covers and it'll be perfect

im gonna have the longest mod...my paint has slowed down to the speed of a turtle with 1 leg when a few weeks ago i was getting stuff done like crazy. oh well.

The only thing that I think is holding your car back is the rims.. Some new black or chrome rims would really set that car off..

Ya know what....this stops now! This thread was put here to show my new SS hood on the car, especially after being such a pain in the a$$ to finally get the thing done and painted,....so unless it's related to the hood or the way my car looks......I don't want to discuss anything else!

You ain't kiddin my man!! :D I've actually gotten tired of looking at the main picture on the right. I think Ryann did a killer job of making the current one, but you're right......it definitely needs to be changed to one the picures I posted in this thread.

Guess I'll have to go into the Graphics Section and request another one. ;)
