using SRT's kit on the 1uz-fe?

I wish they just sold typical Aristol here, stupid $33k usd TT kit for 1uz-fe.

MRAD 02-15-2005 12:11 PM

No, im using something with a little more history than an srt's system and im still keeping it in house (toyota), but it will have some impressive boost when it is done, but I need to get some more funds so I can do it all in one shot. For something like this you go all or nothing, you cant do a patch job and hope it doesnt blow on you. That and I'd rather set my car on fire before sticking a piece of dodge anything inside of it, lol

It wont be done for a while, but when it is ill post some picks and get some times for you guys, heck still wokring on other areas first...

keep us updated, or post it on CL.

How much did that conversion end up coming out to. I've been in touch with a guy by the name of Clint Pohler (Texas) who has two of these. He had them done at Powerhouse Motorsports.

I assume that's an SC400 and not an SC300 because the SC300 was never sold up here. Although you do mention 6 speed and I know that'd be a bitch to convert an auto SC400 to a manual, it'd be much easier to do a manual SC300.

Tell us more!

MRAD 02-15-2005 05:45 PM

That's an SC300, the modding required to make an SC400 into a 300 would require more than it would be worht ($15K-$20K+) plus the car itself (that would be car, engine, custom work, transmission, transmission adapter, labour... trust me I know about the transmission swap on the SC300). It is actually very easy to bring an SC300 into canada from the US, but difficult to bring in the SC300TT GT from Japan, though I personally prefer the V8, more all motoer power and insane amount of torque, especially in the late models with the 310HP 320-5 Torque. If you want to go TT do a custom or get the SC300TT (or custom SC300 US). Hope that helps

NOTORIOUS VR 02-15-2005 06:26 PM

^^ Maybe he ment V8TT

scottyp 02-15-2005 06:58 PM

First. They DID sell the SC300 in Canada. There's not many, but they are around.

Second. Why would someone want to spend the time and money on something like this when the SOARER (japanese equivilent with a Toyota nameplate) is available next year for import (15 years... BOOYA!) and they're available with the 1JZ-GTE (twin turbo 2.5 litre I6) and a 5-spd.

I know which I prefer :smokin:

I know what I prefer :la:

Supra + Soarer = Soapra

Both 1JZ powered.

BTW, Alex, car looks good. Finished the swap yet?

MRAD 02-17-2005 11:55 AM

If you're lucky you can find maybe one or two SC300s in Canada, but they were never oficially sold here, they may have been US imports or special orders since there are no legal barreirs preventing a US SC300 (earlier models) from coming into Canada. I personally prefer the V8, with no turbo the SC300 doesnt keep up and you have more potential with the 8 if you know what your doing, though the SC300 does have that 5 speed manual (later SC400 has a 5 speed triptronic, wish I had that). To each his own, these are some sick rides and I love that car above, nice work, what is it putting out in terms of power (if modded in any way)?

P.S. All JGTC Supras had the 1JZ and now use the 2JZ (SC430)... 500hp reliable N/A power... hehehe

You have to register for SupraForums and for some ungodly reason they've disabled that option.
