Megasquirt Standalone

Well I came accross this standalone unit that some of the E30 boys are using... seems to be pretty popular with them.

from what I've read they've had this product out for about 3 years now and seems like a lot of ppl use it.

Does anyone one have any info on this? have u heard good things and/or bad things about it?

For $187 USD you get a full standalone, that you have to put together yourself... not bad at all!

SuprAdam can only hope to improve
I ran into a 240sx guy that was running that (or something very similar to it, DIY standalone), he had nothing but good things to say about it

Zexhuffer is an unknown quantity at this point
MegaSquirt is an experimental Do-It-Yourself programmable electronic fuel injection controller

That comment alone scares me

But they've been around for 3 years! I mean, I could see you being like that if they just released the product, but 3 years is a pretty long time. :thumbsup

some of the higher HP escort drivers run MS.. Some love it and stand by it, others don't like it so much. I've heard good things about it.

Good to know...

It just seems like if they've been around for a while and some people really wear by it, it can't be too bad of a product. But it's good to know other people have heard good things of it. Of course there will always be bad things about any type of standalone... Everyone has their preference, right?

But for the money, I don't think you can go wrong! I mean $186 US get's u the Megasquirt II, the display that u can put into u'r car, the remote relay board to keep u'r connections tidy and the ECU inside u'r car, and the Stimulator as they call it to test u'r MS once u've built it. Not a bad deal IMO.

Plus u get a 2.5bar MAP sensor and some other stuff to make it work.

If u look at something like Haltech which new is over $1200 USD or say Electromotive TEC3 which is like $2500 CAD and they all basically do the same...

Sure the others will probably have other options the MS might not, but not by much I'm sure!

Plus I sort of like the idea of building it u'rself

I put a MegaSquirt in my turbo dodge over the winter, and so far so good. It was very simple to install and just as easy to tune. Right now it is only tuned so that it can be driven, but next week we'll be goin to the dyno. I'll let you guys know how that goes!

Alot of the AE86 swapped 20valve run "megasquirt" its possibly the cheapest stand alone around and they mostly run it cause you can mate it with the ford edis coil system.
seems pretty reliable never heard anyone complain about it.
