lucky me , i work in a BMW Dealership, so if i was too get a BMW it would wayy cheaper tooo maintian it , and get parts. but as always im a Honda man. And a EK civic hatch is what im gonna get in April 2007 or even eariler.

ofcourse you can buy a bmw or merc or lexus cheaper than a new accord or prelude, you have to look at the condition, KM and past history. You can find bmw's much cheaper than honda's and toyota's everyday. But compare apples to apples. Look for one with similar km's and clean history and than see the difference.

Its almost saying... hey i got a bmw dirt cheap, i paid 6 grand for it but it has 200 K clicks on it and has a ton of issues.

Now onto, Supra RZ's Comment, you work at a BMW dealership, you should know they have 4 year bumper to bumper, and free maintenance down to even WINDSHELD wipers, now tell me why they would pay for an eccentric shaft? Dude get your facts straight,

Next, BMW actually has a much higher residual value than toyota and Honda, merc and Lexus... Its common fact, alot of their cars have a residual value of over 55% after a 3 year term. Some as high as 63%. Please dont fool yourself, honda's are good cars... I have an accord for my wife, but owning BMW now, and owning a lexus prior, You gotta get your facts straight before posting..

PS: World car of the year = BMW 3 series, Best Engine in the world this year = M5 / M6 Best Diesel = 535D. I dont know where the cars are turning out like crap, to me they have been kickin ass.

I drive a benz and the only service i've had to do thus far are oil changes and brake changes. My brother owns a bmw and it's the same scenario for him. Alot of people are weary or reluctant to buy european vehicle because they're misinformed.

Now that's not to say that japanese cars are bad cause they certainly are not. However, you cannot compare bmw's to hondas because they're in an entirely different bracket.

Does anyone know whether the 2004 330CI has any mechanical/electrical problems? I currently drive a Honda Civic but upon graduating university next year, I plan on purchasing a BMW, so I would appreciate if anyone has history or experience with the 330CI(2002-2004). Thanks

my friend owns a 2002 330CI M , he had it for a good year now, and nothing major had to be done to the car to fix it.:smilie_da

I have a 2002 330ci M package with Stage II Dinan package (Intake chip etc..) I bought the car in January, I've spent money on oil changes only. Never had any problems, the car is a tank. I used to have a 328is, the car had 200 000kms, it ran better than most cars I had driven with half the mileage, I sold it for 10500$, try and sell any honda for more than 6000$ with 200000kms.. Friend of mine also had a 1987 325e, he used to hit the rev limiter while flooring it constantly! the car had 350,000 MILES, not km's. He sold it for 2000$ and it was running SO STRONG.

As for maintenance, its more than what you would have to do for a Honda, I have my own mecanic, (Bimmersport, the guys name is Charlie most bimmer guys are familiar with him) He prices things for me as cheap as any other car maintenance out there, and the work is better quality than stealership.

when i said "maintained like everyweek" , i meant cleaning the car making sure all fluids are where they should be , etc..... pretty much what you would have to do with any other car:smile:

I've had my 323ci for a year now and, yeah it has it's share of problems. But for a 7 year old car you can expect to change the water pump, control arms, and other regulatory maintenance items. One thing to watch for is the weak rear subframe, this is more for the 330 series due to higher power. It costs alot for parts for this car, one word of advice is to maintain it yourself. There's plenty of support for 3 series owners. I've owned a b16 integra, 95' and 91' 240sx and they have nothing on this car. In terms of handling and style you can't compare. . . Just drive one for a week and you'll know what I mean. I've put over $1000 into it in the past year, but it's worth it. It just wouldn't be worth it to spend 1/2 of that on a car that can't compare. Look for 2000 323ci's on the auto trader and you'll see they keep their value good for a car going on 8 years. BTW mine was built in june 99'.

my friend purchased an 87 3 series bmw with about 200 000 km on it and he has been kicking the ouf of the car every single day and all hes had to change up to date were the rear tires and the oil.

and in my opinion the germans know what they are doing, they might be brutal at making movies or acting but when it comes to cars and technology they are on the top
