I called them earlier today about this Corvette they have on the lot, and I asked about the GN. The guy said theres minor suspension damage on the front, but it runs and lot drives. He said the engine was good, and the panels could be pulled. I've dealt with salvage cars for years, and many which I've restored have been in much worse shape then this GN. I was actually thinking about picking this one up, but I know nothing about GN's or where to get parts for them so I'm afraid it will just sit on my lot for months. For under $8k though, it seems like quite a bargain. From the sounds of it, looks like all it needs is a front clip and a few suspension parts.

looks good, but i would think people who are into the GN market would want non-"salvaged" cars, that is if you're trying to fix it and sell it after, like you know what i mean? but i don't know for sure....

The car has 116,000 miles on it witch is 187,000 km.
Thats not bad but is a bit of a high mile car for GN standards.
For the price he is asking and the amount of damage, it would have to be very clean and rust free top to bottom before I would give him that price. could be alot of frame damage that you will never get 100% straight.
Some times a hit that hard will bend the door frames and than you will have a bitch of a time lining up the body panels.
Still could be a cheap way to get a GN.
The parts are not that hard to find.
The fenders are just regal fenders and not GN specific. The hoods are still around but may cost you a bit.
The rad suport can be taken from several different G body cars, cutlass, grand prix etc.
Got to think of the nickel and dime stuff though. AC condenser, intercooler, and all the little stuff.

Just saw this,
Nice CAR.
it's not that hard to Change a frame. infact there is a list of braces and places to "beef" up should you have the chance to pop the body off the frame.
As stated a Salvage title is not Desireable among Buick owners/buyers looking for mint cars but a car like this is an excellent candidate for a high performance street terror or a race car for one of the Buick classes in the states.
the sad part is, that car is worth more parted out than that price tag...
if you are thinking about buying it, look at the suspension damage., the sheet metal is a dime a dozen...

Great place to buy project cars, too bad they are in the states but at least they ship, and that GN is cheap, don't know much about them but I'm sure BadAssGN will let us know, but I believe the pre 88 Olds Cutlass Supreme was also a g body so im not sure on this but you can probably just use that front end and have yourself a sleeper

There are a few Normal looking Regals and a bunch of Cutlass' with the Turbo drive line in them.
and they make a great sleeper... nothing like watching Grampa's buick running low 12's

I actually might just be picking up this GN along with the Vette. I sent a $5k deposit to them to hold the cars for me until I can get there in a week or two. I'm still not sure about the GN, the damage still has to be estimated upon my arrival. If the end pricetag is under $10k cdn, I'll be taking her to use as a daily driver.
In response to the person above who was wondering about the Vette, it was in a heavy front end collision, needed a whole front clip. It still needs new brakes, 1 wheel is bent, the windshield has a tiny spider crack in it, it needs a couple of interior trim pieces, and it could use a new paint job. I was assured this car performes like new. If theres more wrong then stated, I'll likely be picking up another car on their lot, but we'll see. In the end if it costs me $22k cdn, its a good deal. You'll see it in the Autotrader when I'm done with it.

Hey man, thanks I appreciate it. Its been a while since I've fixed up a salvage so its going to be a blast tackling another project. I'll definately keep you guys updated with pics and all that good stuff.
GN, I wanted to ask you about insurance for your ride. What are the terms surrounding Classics? Is it 15years or 25 years? Is yours insured as a classic?

I have normal insurance, with full coverage, and a big appraisal
I have no tickets and 16 years driving experiance so the premium is cheap.

Its 20 years for classic insurance and the driver must have a minimum of 10 years driving experience.
A car with alot of modifications may have to be insured under a custom policy.
Badass.. You can drive your car as much as you want just not take it to work or leave it in a shopping mall parking lot unattended.
There are no millage restrictions like people seem to think.
